Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 99

He didn't know much about Seraphina, but he had seen her in quite a few recent news articles and interviews. He clinked glasses with Sebastian. "You're a lucky man, Mr. Croix. I heard Ms. Vance won an international award last year?"

Seraphina had been in a foul mood after Raelynn's thinly veiled insult. Hearing Luke bring up the resume she was so incredibly proud of, her lips curved into a smile. "I was just a participant, not one of the primary researchers."

Raelynn's smooth talking was useless.

Instead of wasting time running her mouth, she should be figuring out how to catch up to her achievements.

What a pity.

Raelynn's worldview was so painfully narrow. All she knew was petty jealousy.

"You're too modest, Ms. Vance. Anyone standing beside Mr. Croix is bound to be exceptional."

Preston couldn't stomach another second of it. He cast a sideways glance. "Ms. Vance truly is... pure and innocent."

Seraphina hesitated.

Was Preston... complimenting her or not?

This time, Sebastian casually shifted his gaze over. "It's rare for you to give a woman such high praise, Mr. Moreno."

Preston was speechless.

Sebastian's words felt incredibly suffocating.

It felt exactly like he was fiercely defending Seraphina, forcibly twisting the comment back into a genuine compliment.

Preston frowned, wondering if he was just overthinking it.

As he pondered.

Luke swirled the wine in his glass.

He looked at Preston, his tone entirely straightforward. "Mr. Moreno, would you mind sharing Ms. Ortiz's contact info with me?"

The moment the words left his mouth, a dead silence fell over the group.

Julian instinctively turned his head to look at Sebastian.

Sebastian slowly raised his eyes, his clear, dark pupils betraying neither anger nor joy.

Even Seraphina couldn't help but frown.

She was shocked and entirely in disbelief.

She was ten million times better than Raelynn. Why on earth was Luke asking for Raelynn's number instead?

Preston paused, the heavy annoyance in his chest slowly dissipating. "Of course. What are your intentions, Mr. Sterling?"

Luke was exceptionally candid, speaking without a hint of hesitation. "I really admire Ms. Ortiz. I suppose you could say we clicked. There's something very special about her."

Luke practically had his interest in Raelynn written all over his face.

Preston was amused.
