Burn in the Alpha Princess's Wrath (Leslie and Kirby) novel Chapter 456

Asphodel snapped her head up, clearly reeling from the sheer audacity of his words.

I let my smile fade and looked him dead in the eye.

Seeing that he had finally piqued my interest, Marcus smiled with satisfaction and took his time speaking. "You know Carris, don't you? You two have a history. If the two of you were to announce that you’ve become mates, Kirby would be driven absolutely insane!"

I paused for a moment to process the shock, my gaze turning searching. "Alpha Marcus, is Kirby truly your biological son?"

This was a low blow. Every move the man made was a direct strike to the heart, devoid of even a shred of paternal affection.

The muscles in his face twitched, and an uneasy smile played on his lips. "Of course he is. I’m only doing this with both of your best interests at heart. If he doesn't give up on you, how can either of you move on and start a new life?"

I smiled thinly. "You’ve certainly thought of everything, Alpha Marcus."

He took a sip of his tea, his tone cooling. "So, do you find my proposal... feasible?"

I gave him a candid smile. "I decline."

His hand froze mid-air, the teacup still gripped in his fingers. He threw a sharp, heavy look my way, his voice dropping an octave. "What is that supposed to mean? Don't tell me you still have feelings for him?"

Asphodel’s disdain for the old wolf reached a new peak. This is just a pathetic power struggle. He expects us to play along with his schemes? In his dreams.

I took my time before responding. "Whether your method is effective or not is something you should test on him, not me. What you don't realize, Alpha Marcus, is that since I took over the Rogue Pack, I’ve been so busy I barely have time for a shopping trip. I certainly don't have the time to indulge you in this pointless game."

"There are benefits for you as well if we succeed!" Marcus snapped, a hint of fury coloring his tone.

"Such as?" I asked.

"Do you really want Kirby hounding you every single day? I thought you hated him."

Wow. I arched an eyebrow. So, Carris was his chosen successor?

The atmosphere in the room turned icy in an instant.

I tilted my head slightly, my eyes cold and shimmering with a dangerous light. The polite mask had finally fallen away.

"Are you trying to force my hand, Alpha Marcus? Don't be so full of yourself. I’m not an idiot. If even I can see through your petty schemes, how could Kirby possibly miss them?"

My words hit a nerve. He slammed his hand onto the table and stood up, his face livid. "You insolent brat! Have you forgotten your manners? How dare you speak to me like that?"

I paused, my voice remaining perfectly level. "If you’re unhappy with my attitude, feel free to file a complaint with my father and let him discipline me. But I’m done wasting my time here."

I turned to leave.

A second later, the door to the suite was shoved open, and two Gammas with overwhelming auras blocked the exit.
