Liam’s expression shifted instantly, and I could feel the hair standing up on the back of his neck.
In my mind, Asphodel was already snarling. An aging Alpha and two Gammas think they can make us bow? This old fox has underestimated us. Leslie, take him down!
Asphodel was right. Marcus had made a grave miscalculation.
With the meager manpower he had here, they wouldn't stand a chance in a fight, and they certainly couldn't stop me if I simply chose to walk out.
However... I glanced at Liam, who was trembling slightly beside me. He was an administrative Beta with no combat training. If a fight broke out, he would be the primary target—a liability they could use against me.
I squeezed Liam’s hand and caught his eye, giving him a subtle look. He understood immediately and gave a sharp, almost imperceptible nod.
Marcus settled back into his seat, looking cunning and at ease.
"I told you before, Leslie—that temper of yours needs to change. Otherwise, you’re bound to suffer for it."
I let my eyes wander, a slow, dangerous curve forming on my lips. "Is Alpha Marcus actually threatening me into accepting his terms?"
He slammed his teacup onto the table, his voice turning heavy. "Yes. That is exactly what I am doing."
I fell silent for a few beats before speaking slowly. "Isn't this a bit much? You think I’ll just roll over? The Rogue Pack isn't the only power in the world capable of standing up to Crimson Moon. Instead of coming after a defiant risk like me, why not find someone more... obedient?"
He let out a cold snort, his face darkening. "Because that bastard loves you. He loves you with a goddamn madness, which means only you have the power to truly hurt him! I’m not just going to take the Crimson Moon Pack away from him; I’m going to make sure he feels a pain worse than death! I’m the one who put him in that seat, yet he defies me at every turn. And now he dares to..."
He cut himself off, narrowing his eyes at me. "Regardless, you will agree. And if you don't... I imagine your father will be much more cooperative once he knows I have you."
My pheromones turned icy in an instant, the air in the room dropping to a freezing point. He was planning to kidnap me to blackmail my father.
The old bastard really had a death wish.
