Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 143

It wasn't that Alaric hadn't resisted, but Caspian, who had always been lenient with him, had uncharacteristically used an iron fist to force him to comply. This created a rift in their relationship, as Alaric could never understand why his doting grandfather would force him to marry a malicious, scheming woman he didn't love.

And in this life, faced with so many inexplicable events, Caspian still chose to believe in her without hesitation.

If she was the one to free Bianca from her chains, then Caspian was the lighthouse that had provided the only glimmer of light in her dark life. Any light she could now reflect came as a gift from that lighthouse.

Knock, knock, knock—

A knock sounded at the door.

Caspian gently patted Vivienne's hand and settled back into his chair. "Come in."

As soon as he spoke, Dorian walked in, followed by a whole crowd of people.

"Dad."

"Grandfather."

After respectfully greeting the old man, the group turned their attention to Vivienne.

She was now the hero of the Ravenshire family. Not only had she single-handedly rescued Bianca, but more importantly, she had earned the privilege of having their grandfather personally watch over her all night. The only other person to ever receive such treatment was the family's golden boy, Alaric.

Dorian, looking every bit the gentleman, subtly sized up Vivienne and spoke in a gentle tone. "You're awake? I hope we're not overwhelming you."

Evelyn, always knowing just what to do, stepped forward with a container of nourishing soup she had prepared at home. "You must be hungry. I wasn't sure what you liked, so I just made a little something. Would you like some? Next time, just tell me what you're craving, and I'll have it made for you."

Vivienne didn't hold back, her eyes lighting up as she looked at Evelyn. "Really? Anything at all?"

Evelyn glanced at Caspian and smiled graciously. "Of course, dear. Would I joke with you about something like that?"

Vivienne said, "My mother told me you have a rare, wild ginseng root. Ever since I woke up, I've felt a little weak, and I hear ginseng is perfect for recovery."

"Prepare it," Caspian ordered.

"Dad!" Evelyn cried out in disbelief.

That ginseng root in her father's possession was a sixtieth birthday gift from the Everhart family, with a market value conservatively estimated at thirteen million dollars. But that wasn't the point. The point was that by protecting Vivienne like this, her father was publicly humiliating her.

"Grandfather."

Just then, a light, teasing voice cut through the crowd. "I've been feeling a bit weak myself lately. Since you're already preparing it and giving some to an outsider, why not save a bowl for your own grandson?"

Oh? A wise guy.

Vivienne looked up and met a pair of smirking, piercing eyes.

The young man's features were wild and untamed, his gaze sharp as a blade.
