"Mom? What are you looking at?"
Serena stood in the hallway outside the hospital room, her gaze fixed and heavy. Isabella followed her line of sight just as the back of a young man disappeared into the room.
"Who is that? I've never seen him at the Ravenshire estate before. Why is he visiting Vivienne?"
She fired off three questions, each one laced with more envy than the last.
As Isabella and Serena had been leaving the room, they had come face-to-face with an exceptionally handsome young man. Even in that fleeting glance, Isabella had been captivated by his cool, aristocratic aura.
She couldn't understand how someone like him could possibly be associated with her foolish, malicious sister.
But then, a thought struck her, and she smiled with schadenfreude.
He had clearly been standing outside the door for a while, so he must have witnessed Vivienne's ugly behavior. No one would ever like such a selfish person.
Serena's thoughts were not as simple as Isabella's. The young man had an extraordinary presence; he was clearly no ordinary person. None of the other young masters in the Ravenshire family had bodyguards following them around so closely.
Could it be...
A glint appeared in Serena's eyes. Could he be the heir of the main family branch, Alaric?
At this realization, Serena's mind started racing. She couldn't believe that the stupid girl she'd always looked down on had already managed to get close to the Ravenshire family's young heir.
"Mom?"
Isabella noticed the strange look on Serena's face and tugged at her arm. "Mom, are we leaving or not?"
Serena glanced at the bodyguards down the hall and slowly crept toward the door, trying to peek through the crack.
She was dying to know what was going on between that girl and the young heir.
Most of the Ravenshires had their doubts about how Vivienne had managed to rescue Bianca, but they kept quiet out of deference to the old man.
But Alaric was different. He was exceptionally intelligent, having shown his genius at a young age. Many who met him couldn't help but praise him as a true prodigy.
Prodigies tend to be arrogant, trusting no one but themselves.
And it was precisely this arrogance that Vivienne couldn't stand.
She curled her lip, revealing a deep-seated contempt. "Explain what? Alaric, do you have any idea how ridiculous you look right now?"
Wesley, his bodyguard, was stunned. He pushed up his sunglasses with one finger, staring at Vivienne as if he'd seen a ghost.
Alaric frowned, his composure cracking for a second, but he managed to restrain himself.
Vivienne showed him no mercy, continuing her assault. "You were the one who wanted to abandon Bianca, and I was the one who saved her. God, how can someone be so shameless? Instead of reflecting on your own arrogant miscalculation, you're questioning the motives of the person who showed courage? Alaric, you're the one who didn't dare to risk your life for someone else. That doesn't mean that anyone who does has ulterior motives. So, you're the one at fault. You should be looking for the problem within yourself."
