At that moment, the atmosphere in the third hospital room was warm and cozy.
Talia sat by the bed, peeling an apple, while Tessa tidied up the room.
Bianca was recovering well and was animatedly recounting her harrowing experience.
Benedict and Aurelia sat on the sofa, listening intently. When they heard how the pouring rain had almost drowned Bianca, Aurelia's heart leaped into her throat.
"And then what happened?"
Bianca, one leg propped up, was not hindered in her storytelling. "And then, Vivienne appeared before me like a superhero descending from the heavens! She shouted, 'Bianca, hang in there! I'm here to save you!'"
That part was just for Aurelia's benefit. Talia and Benedict exchanged a silent glance. The kid's lips were sealed tighter than a clam; whenever they asked about the crucial details, she would either fall silent or pretend she was too scared to remember.
Aurelia asked, "That tree trunk must have been heavy, right? How did you two finally get out?"
Bianca threw her hands up. "How hard could it be? I just looked down on it! You know, just looked down on it, and we got out!"
"Looked down on it?" Aurelia shook her head. "I don't get it."
"Tsk, you wouldn't understand even if I explained. Anyway, Aurelia, just remember: when you face a problem, don't be afraid. Just look down on it! That's all you need to do."
Aurelia was left speechless.
Benedict chuckled and turned to Talia. "Bianca's safe escape is all thanks to Vivienne. Your brother and I were talking, and we think our branch of the family should show our gratitude somehow."
Talia nodded. "I was thinking the same thing."
Bianca's eyes darted around, and she tugged on Talia's hand. "Mom, I have an idea. I..."
*Knock, knock, knock—*
Alaric showed a rare smile. "Bianca, you've grown up. I almost didn't recognize you."
Bianca rubbed her head, feeling a little shy.
Alaric then turned to Talia. "Aunt Talia..."
Talia raised a hand to stop him. "Alaric, we're family. Don't say another word. I trust you. I was just frantic back then, which is why I questioned you like that. Please don't take it to heart."
Alaric was slightly taken aback, but his mind was clear on the matter, and he didn't dwell on it. He nodded. "I won't. I understand how you felt."
Benedict laughed, smoothing things over. "Alright, as long as it's all cleared up, we're family. Thankfully, our Bianca is a fighter."
Bianca quickly waved her hands. "It wasn't me, it was Vivienne. Thanks to her, our family is all here, safe and sound. By the way, Alaric, have you gone to see Vivienne? Isn't she really cute?"
Alaric was speechless.
