Bernard instantly regretted his impulsive move.
As the other students’ gazes grew more pointed, Bernard’s face darkened. He forced himself to act calm and walked past Alaric, pretending nothing had happened.
Alaric wasn’t bothered. He simply handed the invitation to another student who was watching nearby.
The boy was flabbergasted. “For me, Mr. Ravenshire?”
Alaric glanced at the invitations in his drawer, only half of which were gone. After a moment, he pulled out the whole stack. “Hey, could you do me a favor and get rid of these?”
The boy swallowed hard. “You want me to give all of these away?”
Alaric nodded.
“To anyone?” the boy asked again.
Alaric, desperate to be done with them, replied coolly, “Anyone who wants to come is welcome at the Ravenshire estate.”
Bernard, who had sulkily returned to his seat, felt like he’d been slapped across the face when he heard this. He muttered stubbornly, “The Ravenshires are always so pretentious…”
Before he could finish, his desk was kicked hard.
Bernard was about to explode, but when he turned and saw it was Julian, his expression changed, and he silently scooted his chair away.
Damn it, the last time this guy hit him, he thought his face was going to crack.
Harrison saw what happened and discreetly tugged on Bernard’s sleeve, nodding toward Cyril.
Bernard immediately understood. The legitimate Ravenshire heir was too tough to bully, but they could take their frustration out on the illegitimate son. It would still be an embarrassment for the Ravenshire family, after all.
The two exchanged a look and broke into a strange, sinister grin.
Julian, who had been watching, looked at Cyril and also started to smile.
Meanwhile, the boy carrying the stack of invitations rushed out of the classroom. He was so excited that he didn’t watch where he was going and ran straight into someone, sending the invitations scattering across the floor.
The boy froze. When he saw who he had bumped into, his face went white as a sheet.
“Preston… I… I’m so sorry. I-I didn’t do it on purpose.”
The two boys with Preston Everhart scowled and were about to step forward, but Preston held up a hand to stop them. His eyes lingered on the invitations for a moment before he smiled. “It’s alright.”
“What are you yelling about?” Bernard grumbled, picking at his ear.
A boy ran into the room, out of breath.
“Bernard, you have to go see! Your sister killed someone!”
As soon as he said it, the atmosphere in the classroom became even stranger. All eyes turned to Bernard.
Bernard frowned. “What are you shouting about? Be clear. Who did my sister kill? Who’s dead?” His tone suggested he wouldn't care much even if someone had actually died.
The boy gasped, “She killed that adopted daughter from the Ravenshire family! There’s so much… so much blood!”
The Ravenshire’s adopted daughter?
What was that?
While Bernard was still confused, three figures in the classroom had already stood up.
Cyril took off his headphones. “Who did you just say?”
