Leaving Echostone House, Vivienne felt a weight lift from her shoulders. She had just stretched lazily when she saw a figure duck into the bushes. She pretended to bend down and check her knee, then casually stood up and walked toward the covered bridge.
Once Vivienne had crossed the wooden bridge, Cedric slowly emerged from the shadows of the trees.
The old master had been worried and had specifically told him to follow her in secret. Cedric had been just outside the room, and he had heard the entire conversation clearly.
If what Miss Lexton had said was true, then things at Vellmont Lodge needed to be sorted out.
With that thought, Cedric secretly followed her.

Outside Vellmont Lodge, Serena was anxiously waiting. The moment she saw Vivienne in the distance, she rushed forward. “Vivienne, how did it go? What did Bianca say? Did she forgive you?”
Vivienne glanced behind her, her expression neutral. “Mom, can we talk inside?”
Serena realized they were still outside and put on an attentive act. “Of course. I even made that sweet dessert you love.”
Vellmont Lodge was one of the four main residences at Obsidian Estate. With its front and back yards, it spanned nearly 2,000 square meters. After Vivienne moved in, the old master had also spent a fortune to build her a stunning glass house, the Whitestone Lodge, over the gardens. The front yard was filled with a variety of charming climbing roses, and now, at the height of the summer bloom, the entire estate felt like a floral paradise.
As soon as Vivienne entered the garden, Isabella emerged from under a trellis, holding a bowl of chilled sweet dessert.
“Vivienne.”
Vivienne’s face was blank as she walked past, completely ignoring her. The blatant dismissal caught Isabella off guard, and she froze in place.
Serena followed them into the garden, her gaze shifting between the two girls. She smiled, trying to smooth things over. “Look, Vivienne, Isabella is so good to you. She waited for you to come back so you could have dessert together.” She then naturally took Isabella's arm and led her forward. “Isabella heard you went to see Bianca, and she’s been worried sick about you.”
Isabella secretly sized up Vivienne. “Vivienne, Bianca didn’t give you a hard time, did she?”
Vivienne shook her head, her expression breezy. “No, she just made me kneel and apologize.”
The color drained from Serena and Isabella’s faces. They had guessed that the spoiled Miss Whitmore wouldn't let it go easily, but they hadn't expected something so cruel.
Isabella didn't know what to say and could only look to Serena for help.
Serena’s expression was complicated. After a long hesitation, she asked tentatively, “And you...?”
Vivienne said, “I knelt.”
Serena let out a long sigh of relief. If that was the case, they wouldn’t have to worry about being kicked out of the Ravenshire family for the time being.
“Vivienne, you’ve been wronged in this.” Serena took the bowl of dessert from Isabella’s hand and passed it to her with a look of deep sympathy.
Vivienne took the dessert and smiled. “It’s not a big deal. We’re family. What’s a little humiliation between family?”
Serena tried to mediate again. “Alright, Vivienne, Isabella knows she was wrong. Can you forgive her this time?”
Vivienne nodded. “Since you put it that way, Mom, of course I’ll forgive her. It’s just that now, whenever I see Isabella, I’ll be reminded of kneeling. Mom, I don’t want to talk to Isabella for now, and I don’t want to share a room with her anymore.”
Isabella hadn't expected Vivienne to be so difficult this time and shot her a glare without thinking.
Vivienne had been waiting for it. She lazily raised her hand. “Mom, look. She’s glaring at me again.”
Isabella was still young, and her innocent act wasn’t perfected yet. Unable to vent her frustration, the gloom in her eyes deepened.
Serena’s face turned cold. “Isabella, what is wrong with you?” She wasn’t actually upset about Isabella’s attitude toward Vivienne; she was annoyed that after all her coaching, Isabella couldn’t even control her own emotions.
Isabella felt wronged and hugged Serena. “Mom, that’s my room too! Why is she kicking me out?”
Vivienne crossed her arms. “Your room?”
The Whitestone Lodge at Vellmont Lodge had been designed for her and her alone. It was a gift from her grandfather when she first arrived. When had it become Isabella’s room?
“Fine!” Vivienne stood up. “If you’re so sure, then let’s go ask Grandpa to sort this out.”
