Julian acted as if he had just uncovered the conspiracy of the century.
"..." Cyril turned around, letting Julian stare. "What do you think? Alaric managed to control himself too. Why aren't you accusing him?"
"He's different."
Just last week, Caspian had locked them in an isolation room, lecturing them that a man who couldn't control his lower half would never achieve greatness.
Thus, their first trial was mastering the control of their desires.
Since his grandsons were still young and actual physical combat was out of the question, Caspian spent a fortune importing three top-tier 5D simulators from a private lab. The first stage was a highly immersive, intensely seductive scenario. If any of them showed a physical reaction, the simulation escalated into even more intense, interactive temptations.
The entire trial was monitored with clinical precision, meaning even if they slipped up, it was entirely within Caspian's control. He only wanted to forge their discipline; he didn't want them developing a twisted view of women at such a young age.
Alaric had spent eight years living a monastic lifestyle in a temple, so his mental fortitude was naturally far beyond the others. He only momentarily lost control when the visuals became overwhelmingly aggressive. Julian, however, was a completely different story. Being hot-blooded and impulsive, he failed catastrophically almost every single time—so much so that he was starting to despise himself.
But the most shocking part was Cyril. He hadn't slipped up once. Even Caspian had repeatedly marveled at how terrifyingly absolute Cyril's self-control was.
Over those few days, the mental and physical torment nearly broke Julian. After much internal struggle, he finally swallowed his pride and came to Cyril for advice.
Cyril smirked. "How is he different? Weren't you the one who just said we all have the exact same anatomy?"
Julian hesitated. "Are you going to tell me or not?"
"Anchor your focus to a specific person or goal," Cyril explained flatly. "Make that person or thing your absolute restriction. When you feel yourself losing to your desires, tell yourself that if you fail, you will permanently lose that person or never achieve that goal. Once you lock that in, the burden of restraint shifts entirely onto that desire.
Cyril smiled. "Dumbass."
With that, he turned and walked into Blackbriar Wing.
"..."
When the insult finally registered, Julian wasn't angry; he was just stunned. By the time he snapped out of it, Cyril was already gone.
"Fine. Just wait until you come begging me!"
