Furthermore, these kids weren't stupid. Yesterday's incident had blown up entirely out of proportion. The Whitmore family's elite legal team had arrived, yet Vivienne hadn't suffered a single scratch. It was painfully obvious someone incredibly powerful was backing her.
Not to mention, Julian Ravenshire had stormed straight into the middle school division yesterday, leaving behind the legendary, highly gossiped-about 'bridal carry' scene.
Vivienne handled her classmates' sudden change in attitude with utter indifference. "Yeah. What about it?"
"I'm so jealous! Your brother is so gorgeous, and he even walked you to class. He must treat you so well!"
Vivienne shrugged. "He's alright. We aren't that close."
Alaric hadn't made it far down the hall. Hearing her dismissive words, his footsteps faltered, and he cast a slow glance back at the classroom.
The boy was a vision of elegance, radiating a holy aura that fooled everyone who looked at him. The surrounding girls were instantly mesmerized. They excitedly nudged Vivienne's arm. "Your brother is looking at you!"
Vivienne looked up just as Alaric turned the corner and disappeared.
Silence.
Mina touched her forehead, then touched Sophia's. "Mina, what's wrong with you? You've been out of it since yesterday. Did the fight scare you that badly? I think you're fine."
Mina shook her head, her eyes glazed and distant. "I am scared. How can anyone in this world be that impossibly beautiful?"
Yesterday, she had secretly followed that 'fairy' of a man. She had watched him crouch down, his long, elegant fingers stained with a drop of blood, while a seductive, breathtaking smile curved his lips.
The moment that smile bloomed, she felt as if she had been plunged into a sea of blossoming pink flowers.
"Hey, did you guys see? Vivienne's brother personally dropped her off today!"
"I saw! So hot! And so sweet! He even carried her bag all the way to the classroom."
Mina's eyes snapped into focus. She bolted toward the classroom at a dead sprint. Sophia froze for a second, totally bewildered, before rushing after her.
But Mina was a second too late. By the time she reached the door, Alaric was already heading down the stairs, leaving her with nothing but a fleeting view of his broad shoulders.
"Mina, what is going on with you?"
Mina was panting heavily, looking utterly devastated. She shook her head and trudged into the classroom, completely deflated.
"Vivienne, we had no idea you were telling the truth before. We just assumed... Anyway, the misunderstanding is cleared up now! We're all classmates, we should get along."
"Yeah, yeah, it was all a big misunderstanding. Once they hand out the textbooks today, we should all go shopping together!"
Mina and Sophia sat diagonally across from Vivienne. The crowd of eager students had completely blocked their aisle.
Instantly, her eyes widened slightly.
Mina lifted her chin, staring down at her with haughty arrogance. "Vivienne, exactly how many brothers do you have? And what are their names?"
Sophia was just as shocked. Why was Mina suddenly looking for trouble?
Back when the class was actively isolating Vivienne, Mina hadn't stood for it, silently allowing Vivienne to tag along with her. But eventually, unable to tolerate Vivienne's sheer stupidity, Mina had kicked her out of their little duo.
"Mina." Sophia tugged on her friend's sleeve, then shot Vivienne an apologetic look. "She's just in a bad mood."
The Blackthornes were one of the four old-money families, but Mina never actively picked fights at school. Sophia was entirely confused.
Vivienne frowned. She slowly leaned back in her chair, her gaze drifting lazily just above the two girls' heads.
