When Vivienne finally walked back into the classroom, she looked visibly dazed.
Bianca peeked out the window into the hallway, then comfortingly patted Vivienne's shoulder.
"Don't worry about it. Theresa—my former aunt—comes from a nobody family. My mom has always crushed her in high society. Theresa used to throw coffee in my aunt's face whenever she was annoyed, just because she could. And as for the Whitmore legal team? They wouldn't dare breathe wrong in front of my mom. Half their offshore, borderline-illegal asset management business relies on my uncle's firm. If they piss my mom off, she'll bankrupt them before dinner."
Vivienne couldn't help but laugh softly. Of course she wasn't worried Talia couldn't handle it. The youngest Ravenshire daughter was royalty in three different social spheres. The Lexton name might not hold weight in Athelvia, but in Solenforth, they were top-tier billionaires, right up there with the elite.
If it hadn't been for the cruel mandates of the novel's plot, a powerful, well-connected heiress like Talia would never have suffered such a tragic, humiliating end.
Vivienne just... wasn't used to it. Aside from Caspian Ravenshire, she had never had someone fiercely step up to protect her like this.
Bianca saw her expression and threw an arm enthusiastically around her neck. "Relax! Our mom is going to wipe the floor with her!"
One hour later.
Talia casually blew on her perfectly manicured nails, held her head high, and strode triumphantly out of the principal's office. Behind her, a furious society wife covered in spilled tea lunged out of the doorway, but before she could even touch the hem of Talia's dress, a massive bodyguard yanked her back inside.
Ms. Quinn darted out of the crowd and hovered nervously at Talia's side.
Talia didn't even glance back. She leisurely pulled a pair of oversized designer sunglasses from her diamond-encrusted purse and slipped them on. "Everything has been settled. The rest is adult business. For the children, academics are the priority. You..."
"It's Ms. Quinn," she corrected quickly.
Talia nodded. "Isn't that right, Ms. Quinn?"
Ms. Quinn forced a frantic smile. "Yes, absolutely."
Talia smiled smoothly. She casually reached into her purse, pulled out a check, and handed it over.
"I apologize for the trouble today, Ms. Quinn. Just a small token of my appreciation. I hope you won't refuse."
"Them?"
Talia nodded firmly. "Yes. Them. Bianca and Vivienne. They are both my daughters."
Ms. Quinn stared down at the fortune in her hands and slowly lowered her eyes.
Word quickly spread through the school that the imposing Whitmore convoy was packing up and leaving exactly the way they came.
When the matriarch of the Whitmore family arrived, their luxury vehicles had lined the entire street outside the gates. Such a massive show of force meant they were out for blood. Everyone had expected a war of the century, yet it was completely shut down in less than an hour.
The injured Whitmore daughter was absent, while the girl who started the fight was sitting comfortably in class. The implications were loud and clear for anyone paying attention.
"Vivi. Bianca."
Talia had no intention of letting the girls know about the ugly negotiations. Having secured Ms. Quinn's loyalty, she made her way to the classroom.
