Since she knows about my family situation, she actually submitted an application for me. I had an interview this morning, but I didn't get it. Still, maybe you have a shot."

A spark of hope lit up Mira's eyes. "Really?"

Isolde nodded. "You should talk to Ms. Walden about your situation. I know she'll try to help you."

"Thank you, Isolde." Mira's smile quickly faded. "But wait... if you didn't even get it, the requirements must be impossible, right?"

Isolde shook her head. "I honestly don't know what they're looking for. But there's a girl in the next class who apparently got approved, and I don't think it has anything to do with grades. During my interview, the administration just asked about my family background and then told me to leave. But..."

"But what?" Mira asked.

Isolde paused, then offered a reassuring smile. "Nothing. I'm probably overthinking it. It's a school, after all. It's not like it's a scam."

Mira nodded firmly. "I'll go find Ms. Walden and talk to her."

Isolde pulled her back. "Wait until tomorrow. With everything going on today, the teachers are dealing with a massive headache."
