Talia nodded slowly. "Fine. I'll take your word for it this time. I don't care how you handle your branch's dirty laundry, but stay away from my daughters. You know exactly who I am, Victoria. I don't make empty threats. I may be divorced from Damien Whitmore, but don't forget where your son lives. If I really want something done in Solenforth, I don't even need the Ravenshire family's backing to make it happen."
Victoria's face went completely pale.
Talia's mother had been a daughter of the Lee family, the ultimate powerhouse in Solenforth. The Lee family controlled the government, while the White family controlled the military. The citizens of Solenforth joked that those two families were the undisputed sky over their country.
Knowing she had made her point, Talia spoke into the phone. "Alright, let the young master go. If you keep playing with him, he'll actually think it's real."
She hung up and looked at Victoria. "Well? Are you satisfied with the gifts?"
Victoria ground her teeth together. "Very."
Talia turned around and nudged the two girls forward. "Your Aunt Victoria has accepted our apology, and I'm sure she won't make things difficult for you again. Shouldn't you two say something?"
Vivienne and Bianca spoke in perfect, deadpan unison. "We are so sorry, Aunt Victoria."
Victoria looked like she was going to have an aneurysm. Right at that moment, the maid nervously shuffled in with three glasses of water.
Talia casually picked one up, raised it toward Victoria in a mock toast, took a tiny sip, and set it back down. "It's getting late. We won't keep you from your rest. Let's go."
Vivienne and Bianca stared straight ahead. "Goodnight, Aunt Victoria."
The three of them swept out the door. The second the lock clicked shut, Victoria absolutely lost her mind. She grabbed the gift boxes and hurled them at the front door, then started smashing the water glasses, sending the maid fleeing in terror.
"Aaaah!" After a minute of screaming, Victoria's rage snapped into cold, frightening clarity. Like someone with a split personality, she slowly pulled out her phone.
