Be the princess?
Vivienne nearly laughed out loud at Lara's audacity.
"What are you laughing at?"
Calling her 'naturally rotten' had already offended Lara deeply. She had assumed Vivienne would feel at least a little guilty after being caught red-handed. But not only was she unbothered, she was actually laughing at her suggestion?!
Lara's face contorted with anger. "What? You think my idea is funny?"
Vivienne blinked, putting on a scared face as she looked at Bianca. "Huh? Was I laughing just now?"
Bianca played right along, shaking her head and shrugging. "Nope. You weren't laughing. Lara must be seeing things."
Vivienne's eyes curved in amusement as she raised an eyebrow at Lara. "Hear that? You were seeing things."
"You—"
Lara couldn't believe Vivienne's sheer audacity. She was a legitimate young miss of the Ravenshire bloodline, while this beggar was just some random stray her grandfather had picked up. Even Bianca and Aurelia didn't dare cross her openly. How dare this outsider talk to her like that?
Lara tilted her chin up, a hostile glint in her eyes.
"So was I just hearing things when you called me naturally rotten? Let me remind you, I wasn't the only one who heard it. Are you going to say we're all deaf?"
She turned her pleading gaze to Alaric. "Alaric, you're the most fair person here. You heard her insulting me, didn't you?"
Before Alaric could answer, Vivienne seized the opening and turned to Julian. "Julian, you heard that. She's saying you're unfair."
Julian nearly laughed out of sheer annoyance at the little lunatic. She always called him by his full name with absolutely no respect, and now she was sweet-talking him just because she needed backup?
