Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 256

...

Cyril and Alaric kept their expressions perfectly neutral, but Julian's eyes sparkled with amusement. Impressive. To lie so flawlessly to the old man's face meant she was definitely someone worth watching.

The old man bought it. He turned back to Lara. "Lara, Vivienne doesn't lie. This must be a misunderstanding. You are both children of the Ravenshire family. I expect you to get along."

Lara was completely dumbfounded. Did her grandfather seriously just say Vivienne doesn't lie? She had literally just told a massive, blatant lie!

Acting as if nothing had happened, Vivienne tugged on Bianca's arm. "Grandpa, we're going to go play now."

Caspian nodded. "Alaric."

Catching his drift, Alaric followed the girls. Cyril and Julian offered slight bows to Caspian before tailing right behind them. With all the younger generation leaving, it was awkward for Lara to stay, so after a brief hesitation, she scrambled after them.

Once the kids were gone, Caspian turned slowly, his sharp gaze cutting through his children. "What? Are you all harboring resentment toward the child I adopted?"

The adults froze, the gravity of the situation finally crashing down on them. Evelyn, in particular, broke out in a cold sweat.

They finally realized that Vivienne was a granddaughter acknowledged by the patriarch himself. Insulting her was a direct slap to his face.

Leaning on his cane, Caspian called them out one by one. "If you're unhappy, swallow it. When I'm dead and buried, and you're the ones running this family, you can come cry at my grave about how unhappy you are!"

Those were heavy words, terrifying everyone into immediate apologies.

Dorian shot Evelyn a withering glare and hurried forward to support the old man. "Dad, calm down. You will always be the head of this family. We have no complaints whatsoever. It's just kids bickering, there's no need to take it to heart."

"Exactly, Dad," Leander chimed in. "Hearing you say that makes us feel ashamed. Any child you favor must be wonderful. We aren't that blind." He didn't forget to shoot Evelyn a pointed look as he spoke.

Evelyn looked extremely awkward. "Dad, I spoke out of turn in the heat of the moment. Please don't hold it against me."
