"Dad, this courtyard is gorgeous. Oh? What kind of flower is this? It's so pretty~"
By the pond outside the conservatory in Northwing Court, a rare rose bush was planted in the soil. The autumn blooms were even larger than the summer ones, with soft pink and pale yellow petals bursting forth. It looked just like a coy young girl stepping into womanhood—radiant, stunning, yet delicate and vulnerable.
Caspian Ravenshire had just entered the garden when he spotted a girl standing in front of the rose bush, an innocent and cheerful expression on her face. With just one glance, he guessed her identity.
"That is Diana's Moonlight Rose, a rare hybrid cultivated early on in Ravelin," Caspian said, stepping forward at a leisurely pace with a genial smile on his face.
Sienna Markell, still marveling at the sight before her, quickly turned around at the sound of the voice.
The elderly man wore a tailored silk suit, accented with jade buttons carved with crane motifs. His features were refined, his eyes sharp, and his entire demeanor radiated an undeniable aura of authority.
Sienna instantly pieced together who this man was and looked back toward the man inside the conservatory.
By then, Adrian Markell had already stepped out. "I trust you've been well, Mr. Ravenshire?"
Adrian wore a crisp, tailored suit. His aura was calm and distinguished. Though in his forties, he showed no signs of aging; his brow was broad and his expression open and dignified.
Caspian glanced up, assessing him briefly before smiling in response. "Very well. And you, Mr. President?"
Sienna trotted back to Adrian's side, linking her arm through her father's as she carefully sized up the elderly man before them.
Was there anyone in Athelvia who didn't know the elder Mr. Ravenshire? Athelvia's shadow president. Just how terrifying was his influence?
If the Ravenshire family declared a strike, over half of Athelvia's economy would instantly paralyze. A third of the nation's workforce would face unemployment, and worse, high-precision national defense equipment would fail to operate, all because the Ravenshires controlled the world's most advanced semiconductor and computing technologies.
Adrian let out a hearty laugh, stepping forward to shake Caspian's hand. "It's an honor that you remember me, Mr. Ravenshire. I should have come to pay my respects much earlier, but the situation over at Gold Hill grew so volatile that I couldn't pull myself away. That's why I'm so late. I heard you were hosting a banquet today to celebrate, so I asked around and came to share in the joy."
Sienna nodded. "I love them. They were the first thing I saw when I walked into the courtyard."
Caspian smiled. "If you like them, I'll gift them to you."
Adrian lowered his eyes slightly, choosing not to intervene.
Sienna looked completely flattered. "To me?"
"No, no, no." She thought about it for a second before firmly shaking her head in refusal. "Thank you, elder Mr. Ravenshire. I appreciate the gesture, but I can't accept them."
Caspian raised an eyebrow. "Why not? Didn't you say you liked them?"
Sienna looked up, a little bashful. "I do. But I shouldn't just forcefully take something just because I like it. I think, compared to someone like me who has no idea how to tend to flowers, this 'Diana's Moonlight Rose' would much prefer staying with you. My affection is just admiration, but you water and fertilize it every day. It will thrive much better here. I can't rob it of what it loves just because of what I want."
