Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 267

Mina whispered back, "He's already caused plenty of trouble."

Eleonora kept her elegant smile intact, giving her daughter's arm a light, warning pinch.

Preston didn't mind at all. "You must be joking, Eleonora."

Cedric pretended not to notice the subtle clash between the families and shot a look at the Main Hall steward. Moments later, Leander and Evelyn emerged from the hall.

"Mr. Blackthorne, Mr. Everhart, why are you two still standing outside? Please, come in and have some tea."

Evelyn stepped forward and linked her arm through Eleonora's. "Why didn't you head straight inside? Standing out here is no fun. Oh! This must be Mina. You've grown even more gorgeous. Lara is here too; I'll have her show you around later."

Truthfully, Mina didn't like Lara Arlington. Even when they played house as kids, Lara always had to be the one barking orders.

But in front of the adults, she kept her manners in check, pressing her lips into a polite smile.

After a round of warm pleasantries, the group chatted and laughed their way into the Main Hall.

On the other side of the estate, Serena and Isabella had gone to enormous lengths to dress to the nines, even dropping a fortune to rent a luxury car for the banquet. But the moment they handed over their invitations, they were completely stunned.

The security guards didn't recognize them and immediately directed them to a side entrance.

It would be one thing if a stranger didn't know the layout, but Serena and Isabella had lived at the Obsidian Estate for three years. How could they not know where the main gates were?

Although this temporary entrance was decorated with grand elegance, it wasn't the main gate they used to pass through every day.

Serena stared at the long line of people in front of her, a sinking feeling settling in her chest. "Isabella, are you sure Alaric gave you these invitations?"

The Ravenshire steward stepped forward to guide the crowd. "Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend today's banquet. Mr. Ravenshire has prepared some refreshments for you. Please take a moment to rest here, and we will move to the Main Hall once the banquet officially begins."

The crowd fell obediently silent, though quiet murmurs quickly erupted.

"A garden this spectacular, and it's not even the main one?"

"It's obvious you aren't a Stormhollow local. Do you have any idea how much power Mr. Ravenshire wields? The guests in the main garden are the ultimate elite. Ordinary politicians and minor millionaires don't even register on their radar. With so many people here, if some careless fool offended a VIP, it would reflect badly on the Ravenshires. Naturally, they had to divide the guest list. Did you see the line at the garden next door? That's all press and media. Everything that happens at the Obsidian Estate tonight goes strictly by their rules."

"So you're saying... the people who actually made it into the main garden right now are the real heavyweights?"

"Exactly. But think about it—if they can establish rules like this and force all those heavyweights to follow them... who holds the real power?"
