Vivienne raised an eyebrow and shot Bianca a sidelong glance. “Grandson?”
Bianca’s face darkened, and she turned to leave. Vivienne calmly pulled her back, putting on a look of mock sincerity. “So impressive, you even know about this. Hey, where did you hear that from?”
Bianca looked smug. “I secretly heard my mom talking about it. The second branch of the family started stirring up trouble as soon as they heard Alaric was coming back. But it’s all for nothing. Do they really think just any riff-raff can compare to Alaric?”
Vivienne found it hard to agree.
Bianca noticed her expression. “What’s with that look? You don’t agree?”
It took Serena a moment to recover from her earlier embarrassment. When she did, she saw Vivienne and Bianca whispering in a corner. When did Vivienne get so close to that fool Bianca? She instinctively glanced at Talia, but Talia wasn't paying attention to them; her head was bowed as she spoke to Lucian.
The family looked so happy and harmonious together, making the three of them seem like outsiders. A smile remained on Serena's face as she tried her best to appear composed.
Meanwhile, Bianca was still fuming. “You don’t agree, do you? Vivienne, who do you think you are, looking down on Alaric?”
Vivienne gave her a look. In her past life, Bianca hadn’t said that. When she had been chasing Alaric, this simpleton was constantly on her tail, warning her not to get any ideas about him.
“Mr. Ravenshire.”
Just then, the voice of a housekeeper called from outside the parlor. The chattering crowd immediately fell silent, all eyes turning toward the entrance.
Caspian, leaning on an ornate cane, slowly entered the room. He wore a fine, dark blue silk suit, followed closely by Dorian, then Cedric and Cyril.
“Father.”
Everyone in the room immediately stood up, bowing their heads respectfully.
Vivienne obediently held the porcelain plate, her smile sweet. “Thank you, Grandpa.”
“Go on.” Caspian patted her head.
The tea table in the parlor was square. The main seat belonged to Caspian, with the second branch of the family on his left and the third branch on his right. After Caspian sat, the other two branches followed suit.
Leander, feigning casualness, glanced at Dorian and stepped forward to pour tea. “Father…”
Caspian raised a hand to stop him, his gaze skipping over everyone to land on Serena. “Come, sit. We’re all family here, no need for formalities.”
Serena was completely taken aback that Caspian would honor her like this in front of everyone. She was both surprised and flattered. “Yes.”
