In the side parlor.
Vivienne sat on the sofa, lost in thought.
Bianca and Isabella crowded around Cyril, watching Dr. Cole apply medicine to his burns.
Cyril’s expression was gentle and refined, showing no signs of anger or resentment. He even tolerated Bianca’s rude staring with good humor.
Bianca examined Cyril with a defiant gaze, but ultimately found nothing to criticize about his face. It was just as infuriatingly perfect as a certain someone else’s. Bianca shot a glare at Vivienne and said arrogantly, “Hey! Are you really Dorian’s illegitimate son? You don’t look anything like him.”
Cyril seemed slightly taken aback, as if he hadn't expected her to ask such a blunt question.
Isabella interjected with disapproval, “Bianca, Grandpa already accepted the tea. It’s rude of you to ask that.”
Bianca had always disliked Isabella’s fake-innocent act. She put her hands on her hips and shot back, “This is a Ravenshire family matter. What’s it to you? What, you feel sorry for him? Who are you to be qualified? Don’t think getting the Lexton name means a thing.”
Isabella was Serena’s child with another man who had run off. To get Isabella registered, Serena had listed her under Vivienne’s father’s name. It was hardly a glamorous secret, and with Bianca exposing it so publicly, Isabella’s eyes immediately reddened. She turned to look at Vivienne. Normally, her fool of a sister would have already jumped in to defend her.
Bianca grew wary and deliberately tilted her chin up.
Bianca looked suspiciously between the two of them, then clapped her hands with glee. “Oh, I know! You two had a fight! Hahaha, this is new! A total catfight, how messy!”
Vivienne rested her chin in her hands and studied Bianca, looking at her lively, foolish expression. It was like looking at a version of herself from a past life.
In the last script, Isabella had also hovered around Cyril just like this. Bianca, unable to stand it, made a few sarcastic remarks, and Isabella burst into tears. ‘She’ had then rushed forward and gotten into a physical fight with Bianca. Caspian, having just dealt with the situation in the parlor, returned to the side room only to find them fighting. In his anger, he sent both ‘her’ and Bianca to the old family estate to learn some manners.
They were there for two months and were only brought back when school started.
During that time, Alaric returned home from his spiritual retreat at Gracevale Cathedral. Because she had missed his homecoming banquet, Bianca came to resent her completely. And Talia, needless to say, used the incident to target Serena at every turn.
