Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 381

Cyril felt his mind explode, his entire world crumbling into chaos.

Why the hell was Vivienne here?!

Was that woman completely out of her mind? How did she dare?

He lowered his gaze, staring at their touching fingertips. After a long moment, he shakily climbed out of bed.

The room had no lights, and the row of windows was locked tight. Nothing but pale moonlight seeped through the glass. Outside, an endless expanse of dark water stretched to the horizon.

Cyril glanced back at the bed. It seemed Victoria was guarding against the Ravenshire family finding them. By now, they had to be at Merriton Port, ready to set sail.

Time was running out.

He scanned the room and walked straight into the connecting study.

The study was massive. A sleek laptop sat dead center on the luxurious black-and-gold desk.

Cyril approached to inspect it. No wonder 'Mr. Lane' dared to leave his computer out in the open. It was rigged with a self-destruct sequence. The moment the system detected unauthorized access, it would wipe everything.

But this was child's play to him. Cyril took one look, his fingers flying across the keyboard. Five minutes later, the laptop bypassed the security and booted into its normal operating interface.

He didn't dare drop his guard, swiftly moving the mouse as his predatory gaze darted between the glowing screen and the heavy study door.

Found it.

A dark gleam flashed in his eyes. Just as he was about to set up a data bridge, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed from the hallway.

Cyril made a split-second decision and sprinted back toward the massive bed, snatching a fruit knife off the coffee table as he passed.

Click.

The moment the door handle turned, Cyril lunged onto the mattress.

The canopy above them swayed gently.

The two of them lay on the bed, staring wide-eyed at each other.

...

In that single heartbeat, Cyril felt his adrenaline spike to an absolute maximum. He was terrified.

Vivienne, deadly afraid he was going to scream, clamped her hand over his mouth and desperately shushed him.

At that exact second, a voice echoed from outside the door. "Guard the entrance."

It was a woman.

Vivienne breathed a heavy sigh of relief. A woman meant she was temporarily safe.

Her relief was so utterly transparent that Cyril saw right through it.

...

Vivienne shot him a pointed look and expertly squeezed her eyes shut, faking sleep.

Vivienne leaned in closer, dropping her voice to a harsh whisper. "Where are we? Who are these people? Why are we here?"

Cyril turned his head, avoiding the warmth of her breath. Why did this little menace have so many questions? They had literally woken up at the exact same time. What made her think he had all the answers?

Seeing him look away and ignore her, Vivienne grew annoyed. She reached out and forcibly turned his face back toward hers. "I'm talking to you. I saw you sneak into that other room earlier. Were you trying to steal something?"

"..." Cyril gently brushed her hands away and slowly sat up. "You were awake this whole time?"

His voice was incredibly hoarse.

Vivienne scoffed. "Not the whole time. I heard noises in the room and thought you were a kidnapper. I only realized it was you when you tackled me."

Cyril gripped his arm tightly. That woman had given him two full doses. Judging by the heavy, suffocating heat building in his veins, he had a pretty good idea of what kind of drug it was. A throbbing headache pulsed at his temples as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Stay right here. Don't move."

With that, he slid off the bed and headed straight back to the study.

The situation had just gotten infinitely more complicated. He needed to finish this, fast.

Cyril pulled the stolen fruit knife from his waistband and mercilessly slashed it across his own palm. The biting physical pain temporarily sliced through the drug's haze, grounding his mind. With a dark, somber expression, his fingers flew across the keyboard.

He needed to build a cloud server and copy all this evidence into his personal drive. That way, even if 'Mr. Lane' caught him, he would have enough leverage to force him to let them go.

"Cyril, what are you doing? Are you stealing data?"

The sudden, sweet scent of strawberry cake drifted under his nose. Cyril squeezed his eyes shut, pressing his bleeding palm against Vivienne's forehead as she tried to lean in, forcefully pushing her back.

"Stay the hell away from me..."
