Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 397

In the next room.

Cyril was leaning against a soft pillow, peeling an apple. The bright red fruit rotated smoothly in his fingers, the peel coming off in a ribbon so thin it looked like it could snap at any moment.

Lennox Raynor quietly observed Cyril's complexion before cautiously asking, "Mr. Cyril, are you peeling that apple for Miss Lexton?"

The young master is truly a kind and gentle soul, Lennox thought. He just went through a nightmare, yet his first thought upon waking is someone else's well-being. He even insisted on visiting Miss Lexton in his wheelchair despite his own injuries.

Lennox felt a heavy wave of guilt. During the charity gala, he should have stayed glued to Cyril's side. If he had, none of this would have happened.

"Cyril."

A voice sounded from the doorway.

The sharp blade paused right at the stem, and the long ribbon of apple peel broke off and fell away.

Cyril slowly looked up. The cold emptiness in his eyes seamlessly melted into a gentle warmth, like water drawn into a sponge.

"Dad."

Dorian froze for a second.

The boy sitting before him was pale as paper. His dark, raven-like lashes curled slightly upwards, and a faint, bruised shadow lingered at the corners of his eyes, making it look as though someone had deliberately painted a tragic, beautiful makeup over his features.

The extreme contrast between his sickly pallor and the bottomless black of his eyes gave him a breathtaking, almost ethereal beauty that defied description.

No wonder Balthazar suddenly changed his mind, Dorian realized.

Reeling in his thoughts, Dorian slowly approached the bed. "You've been through hell. How are you feeling?"

Cyril pushed himself up to sit straighter. "I'm fine now."

Dorian nodded, his gaze casually sweeping over Lennox. Cyril caught the cue and looked up at his bodyguard. "Lennox, it's a bit stifling in here. Could you go buy me a bouquet of flowers?"

"Right away, sir." Lennox immediately understood and bowed out of the room.

Seeing Cyril's compliance, Dorian's expression softened further. "Cyril, Jasper told me what happened at the Goldbay banquet. You suffered an injustice."

Cyril shook his head. "She was drugged out of her mind. She didn't hear a word Mr. Beaufort said."

"Good." Dorian couldn't afford to relax entirely. "Cyril, Balthazar is dead, and Benedict didn't find any solid evidence on the ship. Your grandfather is definitely going to ask you for a full account of what happened. You..."

Cyril met his gaze, his eyes shining with earnest sincerity. "Don't worry, Dad. I know exactly what to say."

Dorian was struck speechless. He stared quietly at the young man, entirely unable to fathom how a child could be this incredibly considerate and understanding.

"Dad, did Grandpa ask you to come see me first?" Cyril asked softly.

Dorian nodded, a dark cloud passing over his face. "The old man already suspects me. And at the worst possible time."

"You don't need to worry, Dad. Grandpa won't pursue this any further."

Dorian blinked, confused. "How do you know?"

"Grandpa is brilliant. If he really wanted to get to the bottom of this, why would he let you be the first one to speak to me? The situation isn't complicated. Grandpa has likely already guessed that Aunt Victoria had a hand in the kidnapping. But since she is your wife, Grandpa won't cause a massive upheaval for the sake of the family's stability. As long as we resolve this quietly amongst ourselves, he'll let it go."
