Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 400

Huh? What?

Caspian looked completely flummoxed.

Everyone's gaze unanimously swiveled to Cyril. Cyril, guessing she was probably spewing more nonsense from a dream, simply stared at her without blinking.

Julian, who had heard her chanting Cyril's name earlier, had assumed it was just a nightmare. But seeing her wake up and immediately fixate on him rubbed him the wrong way. Narrowing his sharp eyes, he reached out and flicked Vivienne squarely on the forehead.

"Are you completely brainless? Why are you trying to eat someone else's?"

Thud.

Vivienne's eyes rolled shut, and she fell right back onto the pillows, out cold.

Julian froze, his annoyed expression turning to stone.

"Vivi!"

The color drained from everyone's faces. Even Alaric couldn't stop himself from taking a panicked step toward the bed.

Talia leaned in close, checking Vivienne's face. After a few seconds, she heard the girl's soft, even snoring. She let out a massive sigh of relief and looked up at the panicked crowd. "It's fine. She just went back to sleep."

Her previous unconsciousness was due to her exhausting herself in the Narrative Realm. Now, she was finally getting some actual rest.

Julian's blood had nearly frozen in his veins, but his mouth remained as unapologetic as ever. "How can she be this lazy?"

The words barely left his throat before Caspian's death glare locked onto him.

"Can you not keep your hands to yourself? Who told you to hit her?"

Knowing he was in the wrong, Julian backed up a few steps. "I barely touched her!"

Caspian raised his cane and swatted Julian right across the backside. "Barely touched her? How about I barely touch you?"

"Ouch! Grandpa! You're really doing this!"

The strike left half of Julian's leg numb. Seeing the old man preparing for a second swing, he panicked and dove behind Alaric for cover.

Alaric shot him a side-eye and smoothly stepped out of the way.

This little demon was too good at manipulating people. If they didn't keep him away, Vivienne, that idiot, was going to get conned sooner or later.

Cyril looked at Julian with an expression of perfectly feigned innocent confusion.

Caspian glanced at Cyril, then swatted Julian's hand down in exasperation. "Ban what? What do you think Cyril is?" As he spoke, something seemed to occur to him, and he turned his attention back to Cyril.

"Your father mentioned he wants you to stay in Merriton City to recover. The admissions for the National Command & Staff College are coming up, and getting your health back is the top priority. What do you think?"

In Athelvia, military merit was synonymous with a medal of honor, and the National Command & Staff College was the ultimate dream for almost every young man in the country. Eighty percent of Athelvia's top policymakers were alumni.

When the new President took office, he reformed Athelvia's military and political structures. The new mandate required all applicants to top military academies to be at least eighteen and pass a grueling tactical theory exam.

It was an impossibly high barrier to entry. Athelvia's military operations were strictly classified, meaning it was impossible for an average person to self-study for the exam. This reform had far-reaching consequences, essentially destroying any chance for the working class to climb the social ladder. The divide between the commoners and the elite was becoming increasingly extreme.

To adapt to these new policies, the elite prep schools had established the Advanced Studies Class. The students in this class were exclusively groomed for the National Command & Staff College. In other words, the students in the Advanced Studies Class were destined to be the rulers of Athelvia a decade from now.

After a year of grueling preparation, with admissions just around the corner, Caspian didn't want any mishaps. He asked for Cyril's opinion because he believed the boy was old enough to make these decisions for himself.
