Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 409

Alaric set the book down, walked over to his desk, and popped open a hidden compartment. Inside sat the Silver Longevity Pendant. Three years had passed, and he still hadn't returned it to her. Maybe he could use returning the pendant as an excuse to clear up the misunderstanding.

"Wesley!!"

Right as he was hesitating, a painfully familiar screech echoed from the courtyard.

Alaric glanced out the window and saw Vivienne storming into the yard, ready to flip bricks and smash vases.

"Little Stray~ Where are you? Little Stray?"

"What are you doing?"

Vivienne bolted upright and charged straight at Alaric. "Where is Wesley? He stole my Shell-mate!"

Shell-mate? Alaric's brain stalled for a second. "You mean the turtle?"

"Yes! Where is he?" Vivienne demanded, aggressively scanning the area.

Alaric replied smoothly, "He went out."

"He went out?" Vivienne's eyes flashed dangerously. "Then where is my Little Stray? Alaric, my turtle! Your bodyguard stole my turtle!!"

Alaric felt a headache coming on. His hand, resting near his pocket, hesitated for a second before pulling out his phone.

He dialed the number, and it was picked up almost instantly.

"Boss."

Vivienne was glaring at him like a hawk. Alaric stayed quiet for a moment, then turned his back. "Where's the turtle?"

"What turtle? Boss, I'm at the docks right now. The wind is crazy and the signal is garbage. I'm hanging up."

"Bring it back," Alaric ordered.

On the other end of the line, Wesley felt like his world was collapsing. "Boss, can I bring her back tomorrow? I'm staking out the shipment at the port right now! Didn't you literally just say this was top priority and I needed to handle it personally? I can't leave now. I have a feeling something is going down tonight."

The shipment?

Vivienne's ears instantly perked up like radar antennas.

*One second he says I have to do it personally, the next second he tells me to swap out. Does he think I'm an idiot just because I don't throw tantrums?*

Wesley grabbed his heavy case and gently tapped the small turtle resting on his shoulder. "I brought you out to get some fresh air, but it looks like we're heading right back."

Just as the words left his mouth—

*Boom!*

A deafening roar echoed from the docks. A massive pillar of brilliant orange fire erupted along the riverbank.

Wesley's face went completely pale. He scrambled to pull out his phone and started recording.

Secondary explosions triggered one after another. The sheer force of the blasts was so intense that even standing half a mile away, Wesley could feel the concrete vibrating under his boots.

Screams tore through the night air.

The ships moored at the docks were entirely engulfed in flames. People trapped on the decks ran frantically, shrieking in terror, but jumping into the river wasn't an option. The water itself was already a sea of fire.
