Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 42

Caspian looked up, his eyes turning colder.

Meanwhile, at Echostone House.

Talia, worried Bianca might do something drastic, didn’t dare to go far. She had a maid prepare some drink and snacks and sat in the front yard catching up with her two brothers.

Lucian’s words had been a wake-up call. Their father was the rock of the Ravenshire family; he would never make a decision rashly. With the family’s power, there were a million ways to erase Cyril’s existence, yet the old man had chosen the most scorched-earth method. There had to be a deeper meaning.

The three of them discussed it back and forth but came to no conclusion, so they had to set it aside for the time being.

Benedict, hearing that it had gone quiet inside, asked in a low voice, “With Bianca’s temper, do you think she can accept you and Damien getting a divorce?”

At the mention of this, Talia’s recently calmed mood soured again.

Lucian was confused. “Talia, what’s really going on with you and Damien? Why did it have to come to this? Did the old man agree?”

Talia shook her head. “He told me not to be ridiculous. I even made him angry over it. Didn’t you see in the pavilion earlier? The old man wouldn’t even look at me.”

“Hah!” Benedict waved his hand dismissively. “I think you’re overthinking it. Besides those kids, who did the old man even look at in the pavilion? You can’t really blame him, though. It’s just that all this bad luck is piling up at once. We don’t even need to talk about what Dorian did. But did you guys hear? There are apparently problems within the Arlington Group too.”

The Arlington family’s business empire wasn’t as monopolistic as the Ravenshire family’s, but it was still a major player in Athelvia’s economy. The executive director of the Arlington Group was Charles, Evelyn’s husband.

Benedict glanced around before lowering his voice. “It seems he misappropriated hundreds of millions in government investment for a private venture. The land he acquired was then designated as military territory by Solenforth. Now the government is demanding to inspect the project’s progress. If he can’t cover the deficit or get the project back on track, the next time we see Charles, it’ll be in a federal prison.”

“Lucian, where are you going?” Benedict stood up as well.

“To see the old man, of course.” If his guess was right, then it was no wonder their father was so angry.

Talia also sensed something was wrong and got to her feet. “If we go see him now, will it…” Before she could finish, she noticed a figure standing in a corner of the front yard. She paused, her eyes turning cold. “What are you doing here?”

Lucian and Benedict’s expressions flickered. Following Talia’s gaze, they finally saw a girl in a white doll-like dress standing in the corner of the yard.

The girl walked forward with a bright smile. “Uncle Lucian, Uncle Benedict, Aunt Talia. I came to see Bianca. I saw you were talking, so I didn’t want to interrupt. That’s why I was just standing over here listening.”

The three of them were speechless.
