Expel the thief in this house?
The words hit Serena like a ton of bricks.
“What did you say?” For a moment, she wondered if she had heard wrong.
Vivienne looked up, her gaze meeting Serena’s directly.
This was the first time since her return that she had truly met Serena’s eyes.
“I said, I don’t need you anymore.”
Serena’s expression was a mixture of shock and resentment. “You don’t need me anymore? Who was it that cried and begged me to come back, begged me to stay by her side? And now you say you don’t need me? Why? Just because I gave some of your things to Isabella? If I had known you were so heartless, I never should have bothered with you in the first place.”
Vivienne just smiled.
It was true. She had once cried and begged for Serena’s love. But that very experience had taught her that things obtained by begging were the least reliable. That was why she held no hope that Serena would ever change.
Serena had expected that bringing up the past would make Vivienne immediately apologize, but she didn’t. She even scoffed at her.
“Vivienne!” Isabella seized the opportunity and rushed into the room. “Kicking us out now makes you an Backstabbing brat! If Mr. Ravenshire knew how cruel you are, he might not keep you either! Nobody likes an ungrateful brat!”
The smile vanished from Vivienne’s face. She raised an eyebrow, deigning to reply for once. “You’re right. Nobody likes an ungrateful brat.”
That expression again. Isabella had noticed it before. Ever since Vivienne’s clash with Bianca, she always looked at her as if she were an idiot.
“Am I wrong? Do you think everyone is as brainless as you? Mom and I are your closest family, yet you’d abandon your own flesh and blood just to climb the ladder with the Ravenshires. What do you think people will say about you?”
But the act had to continue. Serena put on a look of utter disappointment. “Fine. Since I can’t control you, let’s have Mr. Ravenshire settle this.”
Vivienne had no time for their drama. She opened her phone and started a new game of Snake.
Biting off more than you can chew. Serena was just too greedy, so much so that she couldn't even see the basic reality of her situation.
When you’re the favorite, you don’t need to be reasonable.
If her grandfather came, it certainly wouldn’t be to pass judgment.
