"..." Vivienne kept a deadpan expression and swatted his hand away. "I wasn't finished. Surrendering before the battle even starts—you really are the worst one here."
"?" Julian tilted his head, narrowing his eyes at her.
Vivienne turned and was just about to run, but Julian grabbed her by the collar and yanked her right back.
"If Alaric and Cyril are The Two Stooges, then what do you call me, Alaric, and Cyril together?"
Vivienne looked up at the sky.
Julian tugged at her collar, pulling her closer. For a split second, he misjudged the distance, and her delicate shoulder brushed against his chest. That strange, sudden contact made his brain short-circuit. A few absurd, highly inappropriate images flashed through his mind, and Julian snapped to his senses, shoving Vivienne away in a panic.
"!"
The scuffle lasted only a few seconds, and before Vivienne could even register what was happening, she was shoved backward, her elbows scraping against the ground until they bled.
"What is your problem?" Vivienne asked in absolute disbelief, glaring up at him from the dirt.
Julian took one step forward, then practically leaped three steps back. "Get up yourself." With that, he turned and sprinted away. The desperate way he ran made Heath Corbin's earlier escape look like a casual stroll.
"Miss Lexton?"
Hearing the commotion, Marissa came out of her room with a light jacket draped over her shoulders. Seeing Vivienne sprawled on the ground, her face paled in alarm, and she rushed over. "Oh my! What happened? Why are you on the ground?"
Vivienne gritted her teeth and stayed flat on the dirt. "Marissa, don't panic. Do you have your phone? Hurry! Take a picture of me."
Julian dared to play dirty with her? Then he couldn't blame her for playing ruthless!

"Thump—Thump—"
Leaning against his bedroom door, Julian felt like his heart was about to beat right out of his throat.
