"Man, you know how it is. My boss acts like he's taken a vow of silence. He doesn't say twenty words a day. Not even the monkeys at St. Helorian Chapel could get through to him. If I don't get out and blow off some steam, my bright and bubbly personality is going to completely wither away."
Mid-ramble, Wesley suddenly realized the atmosphere had shifted. He turned around and found Alaric standing right behind him.
"..." He slowly turned his back to Alaric and raised his voice. "Oh, yeah, thanks for your help with that thing earlier. You know us bodyguards, our main job is making sure the boss is happy. Gotta go. I'll buy you a drink next time."
That should save him from punishment.
Wesley hung up the phone, cast a sideways glance backward, and pretended he had just noticed Alaric. He slapped on a serious expression. "Boss, we found the guy."
Alaric gave him a cold look. "Lead the way."
Wesley breathed a silent sigh of relief, slipped on his sunglasses, and cleared a path for Alaric.

Meanwhile, when Vivienne arrived at Pier 3, someone was already waiting.
Mina, dressed in a thin jacket, was leaning against the iron railing, gazing out over the water.
With the freezing weather, everyone else at the port was hurrying along. Only she stood perfectly still.
"Mina."
Vivienne called out.
Mina turned around. Seeing Vivienne, a faint smile graced her lips, and she stood on her tiptoes, waving.
Vivienne jogged over and pulled a cashmere blanket from her backpack. "Why are you dressed so lightly?"
Mina smiled and wrapped the blanket around herself.
But she felt so incredibly wronged. She desperately needed someone to talk to.
"My mom asked me what happened, but I was too scared to tell her. My grandfather asked if I would hate him—hate all of them—if the family accepted Isolde. I was too scared to answer. My brother told me to come home, but I'm too terrified to even step foot in the house. Tell me, how did I end up like this? Afraid of everything. Daring to do nothing."
Vivienne hesitated for a moment before gently patting Mina's shoulder.
"Why were you afraid to tell your mother? Were you worried she couldn't handle the shock, or were you worried she'd choose Isolde over you?"
Mina's body stiffened slightly.
"If it's the first reason, your fear comes from kindness. It means you're growing into a better person."
"And... what if it's the second?" Mina's voice was barely a whisper.
"Then it means you don't love yourself enough."
