Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 63

"Bye, Grandpa! See you tomorrow!"

Back at Northwing Court, Vivienne was in high spirits. After saying goodbye to Caspian, she bounded back to her room.

Caspian looked on, puzzled. He pointed at her retreating, bouncing figure and looked at Cedric. "Why is she always bouncing around like that?"

Cedric replied, "Kids are like that. And Miss Lexton is more energetic than most."

Caspian nodded. "It seems these bonding activities are quite effective. We should do them more often."

Before leaving, Bianca had been making all sorts of small gestures, her eyes practically glued to Vivienne. Yet Vivienne hadn't glanced at her once, and in the end, Bianca had stormed back to Echostone House in a huff.

Cedric chuckled in agreement. "Bianca also just asked me to tell Miss Lexton that she's never speaking to her again."

Such childish words usually meant the opposite. Caspian couldn't help but laugh. "That Bianca... she has a simple heart. If she were guided properly..." Suddenly remembering something, Caspian's face darkened again. "Still no word from the Whitmore family?"

Cedric's expression shifted, his smile fading. "I expect we'll see some movement once tomorrow's news breaks."

"Hmph." Caspian made a noncommittal sound, his thumb slowly rubbing the sandalwood bead on his cane. "What about Alaric? Any news?"

Cedric said, "We received word from St. Helorian Chapel. A lot of tourists have been visiting lately, and those assassins are hiding among them. It's a good thing you had the foresight to keep Mr. Alaric's study trip a secret, sir. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Caspian sighed softly. "If it weren't for my carelessness back then, such a huge mistake wouldn't have been made. The Ravenshire family owes Alaric. We cost him his parents when he was so young."

Sebastian's death was a major taboo in the Ravenshire family. Fearing he had touched on a sore spot, Cedric quickly tried to console him. "Sir, it's all in the past. You shouldn't blame yourself anymore. Mr. Alaric is coming back soon. You should be happy."

Caspian's eyes filled with a rare warmth. "Yes, he's finally coming back. That boy... he's good at everything, but he's just too cold. You wouldn't know, but when I went to see him last time, his personality seemed even more withdrawn. That won't do! Sending him to the church was to ward off his bad luck, not for him to renounce the world."

Speaking of Alaric, the head of the Ravenshire family sounded just like any ordinary old man, rambling on to Cedric. "Even if he wants to renounce the world, he has to produce an heir for the Ravenshire family first. It would be a tragedy for such exceptional genes not to be passed on."

Cedric was at a loss for whether to laugh or cry. "Sir, how old is Mr. Alaric?"

Caspian waved a hand. "Eh, you don't understand! Fifteen is a critical age for shaping one's values. I can't let those celibates at St. Helorian Chapel corrupt him. Here's the plan: when Alaric returns, we'll throw him a welcome banquet. We'll invite all the pretty girls from Stormhollow's Deepwater Port to let him... acclimate. Yes, that's what we'll do. Romance... you have to start them young!"

Cedric was speechless.

"You're too kind, miss." The housekeeper fidgeted with her fingers, looking a little flustered.

She had been terrified when the master asked her to take care of this little terror. After all, Vivienne's reputation at Obsidian Estate wasn't exactly stellar. But after spending the last couple of days with her, she found that this Miss Lexton was much easier to get along with than the rumors suggested.

"You enjoy your milk, miss. I'll come back later to tidy up." The housekeeper was about to leave when she remembered something and turned back. "Miss, is your allergy better?"

Vivienne paused for a second, then immediately understood. A sly, triumphant smile spread across her face. "Oh, that! It's all better! The medicine you gave me was amazing. I haven't even thanked you properly yet!"

The housekeeper waved her hands frantically. "You're too kind, Miss Lexton. I just ran the errand. It was Dr. Cole's medicine that did the trick. You know, that medicine is a special formula from his lab. When I went to get it, he was surprised I knew about it. I told him you were the one who mentioned it, and Dr. Cole didn't say anything more."

Vivienne said calmly, "Grandpa was the one who told me about it. Elise, please don't tell Grandpa about what happened today. I'm fine now, and I've noticed he's been looking thinner lately. I don't want him to worry about me."

"It's so good of you to be so considerate and thoughtful, Miss Lexton." The housekeeper patted her chest. "Don't you worry, I can keep a secret."
