"Someone help! Miss Bianca fell! Quickly!"
"Oh, my dear lord, what have you done! You're in big trouble now!"
[Beep—]
A long, clear tone sounded, and Vivienne's unfocused eyes gradually regained their clarity.
The entire Garden was in utter chaos, with maids and butlers running around like headless chickens.
Vivienne couldn't make sense of the situation, staring blankly at everything happening around her. A woman who looked like a younger version of Marissa was frantically gripping her hand, her mouth opening and closing nonstop.
What was going on? Hadn't she and that stupid book been destroyed together? Why was she back at Obsidian Estate? Was this an illusion?
Seeing her completely unresponsive, Marissa turned and pointed downstairs. Vivienne followed her finger and saw someone lying at the bottom of the steps, surrounded by the butler and maids, their faces pale with fright.
It was Bianca!
Had she failed to resist and been sent back to the day of her conflict with Bianca? What happened to Bianca? Had the Narrative Spirit controlled her again?
A thought flickered in Vivienne's mind, and she grabbed Marissa's hand. "Marissa, quick, call…"
The words died in her throat. She froze.
Why did her voice sound so much younger?
Not just her voice, but her hands… they were smaller too.
It was then that she noticed more oddities. And Marissa—she looked younger, no older than her early thirties.
"Quick! Carry Miss Bianca back to Echostone House!"
By now, the butler had summoned the family doctor, and the bodyguards were carrying Bianca up as instructed.
Vivienne stared in a daze, only now realizing that Bianca looked smaller too.
Was this a fleeting dream? Or had she really gone back in time?
Marissa had been watching Vivienne closely. This Miss Lexton, spoiled by the old master's favor, had always been lawless and arrogant. But right now, the small, delicate hand clutching hers was trembling. Marissa thought she was scared, and while her heart ached for her, she also felt a flicker of relief.
If she knew fear, it meant her nature wasn't entirely bad.
"Mrs. Lexton!"
Marissa was shocked. So this was what it meant to have a sweet mouth and a venomous heart.
She was about to argue when several other maids pulled her back, trying to prevent the situation from escalating.
Marissa felt wronged but helpless. They were servants. Even if Miss Lexton had done something, it wasn't her place to speak up. Having learned her lesson about Serena's ruthlessness, she had no choice but to keep her mouth shut.
But Serena wasn't about to let it go. She pushed Vivienne forward, pointing at Marissa and the other maids. "Vivienne, tell Mommy the truth. Did they fail to look after Bianca and are now trying to frame you?"
Vivienne looked up. Serena's eyes weren't on her; she was just constantly signaling her with looks. After a moment of silence, Vivienne expressionlessly raised her arm and shook off Serena's hand.
"Vivienne, what's wrong with you?" Serena, completely surprised that the daughter who had always been so obedient would defy her, was momentarily stunned.
Vivienne turned to Marissa. "You're not needed here. You may go."
Marissa was taken aback. Was Miss Lexton speaking up for her?
The other maids exchanged glances, then quickly pulled Marissa away from the brewing storm.
