"What are you yelling for? All you do all day is bark."
When they were out in public, the Ravenshires operated as a single unit. Before Cyril could even reply, Julian fired the first shot.
"A whole group of you couldn't beat one guy, and you still have the nerve to show your faces? If I were you, I'd wear a mask out of pure shame to spare my ancestors!"
Kael rolled his eyes and sneered at Julian. "What's it to you?"
How had things gotten so explosive before they even started?
Lana, terrified they were going to come to blows, looked pleadingly at Jade. She didn't have the status to intervene.
Jade shook her head, signaling there was nothing she could do. Lana then turned to Isolde. Isolde hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose to stay quiet.
"Oh? Why is everyone standing around here? Weren't we going skiing?"
A bright, cheerful female voice chimed in just in time.
Sienna Markell walked into the crowd carrying a black snowboard, beaming. Seemingly oblivious to the thick tension, she offered Cyril a playful greeting. "Afternoon, Officer."
She was also a student at The Academy of Military & Governance, but her greeting felt far more sincere than Kael's.
Ever since the Whitmore family's downfall, the Markells had seized the opportunity to rise as Stormhollow's newest power players. With Adrian Markell securing his reelection, Sienna's status as the president's daughter skyrocketed her to the top of the social ladder. The girls who flocked around her were mostly daughters of high-ranking government officials.
Sienna held immense sway in political circles, and the other girls essentially treated her word as law. Seeing her openly show camaraderie with Cyril, they naturally chimed in to support him.
"Weren't we supposed to be racing? Everyone's here, let's head up."
"Kael, you promised to carry our team. Don't back out now."
