Was she really just overthinking things?
"Alaric, Vivienne..."
Aurelia walked into the Main Hall, looking around in confusion. "Huh? Where's Bianca?"
The three people in the room froze simultaneously. Vivienne was the first to react. "Didn't she go back to her room to shower with you?"
Aurelia's face paled. "We were supposed to, but she said waiting around would take too long, so we should just shower in our own rooms. I just went to check on her, and the room was empty. I thought she came here early. Did she... not come? Bianca..."
Before she could even finish her sentence, Vivienne sprinted out of the Main Hall. Realizing the horror of the situation, Aurelia chased after her.
Alaric's expression turned terrifyingly grim. He looked at Wesley. "What happened?"
Wesley shook his head.
*
Bianca's bedroom was brightly lit. A bath towel lay discarded on the floor by the bathroom. The shower tiles were bone dry; there wasn't a single drop of water.
Wesley rubbed a strand of hair found on the bedsheets between his fingers, his face solemn. "Miss Bianca must have been taken before she even had the chance to shower."
The implication was chilling. It meant that while Vivienne and Alaric were talking in the Main Hall, the intruder had already slipped inside the courtyard.
Aurelia frowned, scanning the room in deep confusion. "Don't you guys find this strange? There's no sign of forced entry. But Bianca is extremely vigilant; she would never open the door for a stranger."
"Are you suggesting the kidnapper was already hiding in her room?" Alaric asked.
"It's highly possible," Aurelia said. "Earlier, when we cut the power to trick Preston, they might have used the darkness to slip inside."
Vivienne looked up. "You said it was strange earlier. What's strange about it?"
"I can't quite put my finger on it..." Aurelia murmured, lost in thought. "It just feels too coincidental. Out of all the rooms, why target Bianca's?"
"Assuming it was just a coincidence, wouldn't they want as many hostages as possible? Why did they skip my room?"
