The once-blank tag bar flickered with a cascade of words: foolish, selfish, kind, indifferent, naive, arrogant…
Gradually, the cycling slowed, finally settling, flickering back and forth between “indifferent” and “kind.”

The next morning, gentle sunlight filtered through the dense leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
As usual, Vivienne finished her breakfast and took Little Stray to the sunroom to bask in the light.
Bianca had been missing all night, and Caspian hadn't slept well. He had taken Cedric out early in the morning to search for her. More than half the staff of Northwing Court had gone with them, leaving only a few housekeepers to clean the inner courtyard.
Elise walked into the sunroom from the corridor, carrying a small basin of fish food. Yawning, she had just scattered a handful when she suddenly realized something was wrong.
Huh?
Where was Miss Vivienne?
Elise snapped awake and looked at the rocking chair in the sunroom. She was sure she had just seen Miss Vivienne and her turtle lying there, sunbathing. How could she have vanished in the blink of an eye?
“That’s strange. Vivienne—”
Before she could call out, a group of uninvited guests suddenly arrived at Northwing Court.
They were all strangers.
Who were these people, daring to cause a scene at Obsidian Estate?
Elise reacted quickly, cutting across the front hall from the corridor. When she got a clear look at the man in the lead, she froze for a moment, her expression turning fearful and respectful. “Mr. Whitmore, Sr., please forgive me. This is the master’s private residence. You can’t enter without his permission.”
Frederick stopped, his presence commanding without a hint of anger. “You know who I am? And since you know, you still dare to block my path?”
Mr. Whitmore, Sr. didn’t even spare her a glance as he led his entourage into Northwing Court with a swagger.
Marissa heard the commotion and had just run out of the main hall when she saw the group of menacing figures storming in.
Before she could speak, Frederick ignored her and strode past through the corridor.
“Go prepare a pot of your finest reserve tea. And send a message to hurry your master along.”
Marissa was stunned. By the time she came to her senses, Frederick had already led his people into the main hall.
Who were those people? What did he say? Make tea? The finest reserve?
Wait, hadn’t she just brought tea in a minute ago? Why did she need to make more?
How strange…
