She and Damien had already reached the point of no return. There was no way to reconcile. With no feelings left, why force themselves to live together?
As for the argument of staying together for the child, that was just a line to fool Bianca. If Damien truly cared about his child, he could have had his flings, but why would he go so far as to have a son?
Businessmen seek profit, politicians seek power. The Whitmores were a family of both, so naturally, they sought fame and fortune.
For the Whitmores to be willing to part with hundreds of millions of dollars, it meant they were scheming for something worth far more.
Talia maintained her composure and refused firmly. “Thank you for your generous offer, Mr. Whitmore, Sr., but you seem to underestimate the Ravenshire family. The little bit of money to Damien's name isn't even enough for my daughter's dowry. I am not selling my daughter.”
Frederick narrowed his eyes, his gaze dark as he sized up Talia. How had he never noticed before that Talia was so unyielding?
In truth, Damien was also reluctant to part with his assets, but Talia’s words were even more humiliating. Unable to restrain himself, he snapped. “Talia, stop acting so high and mighty. You think you’re so innocent? What about you, sneaking around with other men behind my back? You never talk about that, do you?”
Talia glanced at Bianca, trembling with rage. “Damien, don’t you dare slander me.”
Damien sneered. “What? Feeling guilty?”
“That’s enough!”
Frederick stood up and turned to Caspian. “Caspian, you are the head of the Ravenshire family. Give us your decision.”
Caspian, who had been playing deaf and dumb, feigned a troubled look and shook his head. “What more can I say? This daughter of mine… when she wanted to marry him, I let her. Now that she wants out, I’ll let her do that, too. I told you long ago, from the very beginning, I never liked that worthless son of yours.”
“You…” Frederick nodded with a cold smile. “Fine. The Ravenshires are certainly tough. My apologies for intruding today. Damien, get Bianca. We’re leaving.”
Talia’s face changed. She pulled Bianca into her arms protectively. “No! Bianca is my daughter. She’s not going anywhere!”
Since all pretenses were dropped, Frederick didn’t bother with pleasantries. “It seems I must remind you that Bianca’s last name is Whitmore. She is a daughter of my family.”
What should she do? She really didn’t know how to choose. Her grandpa, her dad, and her mom were all the most important people in her life. How did it come to this?
Bianca grabbed Talia’s hand, dissolving into tears. “Mom… please…”
BANG—
Just then, a loud noise echoed through the hall.
Everyone was caught off guard, stunned into silence.
When they recovered, they saw a girl in a white dress climbing out of a cabinet beneath a large display case.
