Chaos Girl Rewrites the Script novel Chapter 81

Bianca was scared out of her wits; she was so paralyzed with fear that she even forgot to cry.

“What the hell was that!” Damien nearly jumped out of his skin.

Caspian was also badly startled. It wasn't until he saw the pink turtle next to the little girl that he finally let out a heavy sigh of relief. “Vivienne?”

Vivienne looked up, her bright, pretty face on the verge of tears.

Caspian hurried over and knelt to check on her. “What were you doing hiding in the cabinet? You must be suffocating.”

Seeing that it was just a young girl, the color returned to Frederick’s pale face. He was about to resume his persuasion when a thought struck him, and his expression tensed.

They hadn’t said anything out of line just now, had they?

Frederick carefully replayed the conversation in his mind. Only after confirming he hadn’t misspoken did he secretly breathe a sigh of relief. Thank goodness for his caution, or he would have been tripped up by such a simple mistake.

Just as he was feeling pleased with himself, Vivienne grabbed Caspian’s hand, clutching it like a lifeline. “Grandpa, I don’t know anything! I didn’t hear anything…”

Frederick’s eyelid twitched, and his sharp gaze fell on Vivienne. For some reason, he suddenly had a bad feeling.

Cyril’s eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze lingering on Frederick’s face for a moment before a smirk of amusement touched his lips.

Caspian’s face showed a hint of confusion as he looked up at Frederick.

Frederick suddenly became indignant. “Caspian, why are you looking at me like that? I, Frederick, have always acted with integrity. I’m not afraid of the Ravenshire family trying to sling mud. Little girl, why don’t you tell us what you heard while hiding in that cabinet?”

Caspian patted Vivienne’s head. “Don’t be afraid. Grandpa’s here.”

Damien immediately understood. No wonder the tea had been prepared in advance. This was a trap the Ravenshire family had set for them.

Thankfully, he had been cautious and hadn't revealed anything.

Feeling confident, Damien pointed at Vivienne. “That’s right, why don’t you tell us? Tell us what you heard in the cabinet.”

Vivienne flinched, her voice soft but every word crystal clear. “Grandpa, I heard these two men saying that no matter what, they had to find a way to trick Bianca into coming back. And once Bianca was back with the Whitmore family, they could do whatever they wanted with her.”

Bianca froze, her head snapping up to look at Frederick.

“Nonsense!” Frederick roared, pointing a finger at Vivienne. “Who sent you? How dare you spout such lies!”

Vivienne flinched and hid behind Caspian, looking like a startled deer, but her mouth didn’t stop for a second.

“Grandpa, I’m not lying. They also said they would use Bianca to lure Aunt Talia back first. Then they’d find a way to ruin Aunt Talia’s reputation and smear the Ravenshire family in the process.”

“Outrageous!” Frederick’s eyes narrowed, his palms instantly slick with sweat. To hide his anxiety, he could only feign composure. “Well, well, so the Ravenshire family has been scheming all along to set a trap for us.”

Caspian’s gaze was deep and unreadable as he remained silent.

Seeing that the old man wouldn't admit it, Vivienne puffed out her chest and declared with surprising force, “Who’s setting a trap for you? You’re a shameless old man who won’t own up to what he’s done!”

Cyril paused, his eyes fixed on Vivienne. This girl had some nerve.

Cyril sighed softly, patting Vivienne’s forehead to signal her to stay hidden. With so many people watching, he had no choice but to accept his fate as a human shield.

“Stop!” Caspian’s voice was cold as he swung his cane, cracking it hard against Damien’s leg. “You insolent fool! This is Obsidian Estate, not your Whitmore family home!”

“Ah!” Damien cried out, his knee buckling as he half-knelt on the floor.

“Caspian!” Frederick’s face was grim as he grabbed Caspian’s cane.

The heads of the two families locked eyes, and for a moment, the air crackled with unspoken tension.

Just then, Vivienne slowly peeked out from behind Cyril’s shoulder. “Grandpa, I have more evidence.”

Frederick’s hand trembled inexplicably.

Vivienne said, “They also mentioned that besides the antique vase Ethan gave the old man, there was also a confidential file called ‘Document No. 49.’”

It was like a switch had been flipped.

Frederick’s mind went blank. He stared at Vivienne, his hand now shaking so noticeably that he could barely hold onto the cane.

Vivienne gave Frederick an innocent smile. “They also said they needed to find a way to get that file from Ethan, because the mastermind behind the Gold Hill land sale case is the Whitmore family.”

To hell with the plot.
