Chapter 107
Caleb’s POV
She was silent at first.
Then a low snarl broke from her lips like a curse, soiling the air.
“You think I am going to betray my kin just because you say so?! You fucking liar,” she growled.

“Believe me or not,” I said to her coldly. “But there’s no way that you’re going to leave here alive if you don’t concede.
“And you think you can win? Against him?!” She tilted her head back and laughed. “Haha, you’re really barking up the wrong tree if you think you can defeat him. He’s more powerful, more dangerous than either Eres or I! You will die before you can sense what’s coming! And I will be glad to watch!”
Demi truly looked crazed; her eyes flared and her teeth were bared as she panted like she’d run a mile.
I knew there was no reasoning with her; perhaps I’d have more luck with Eres.
“Have kt your way, Demi. You might want to spend your last hours alive thinking about what you’ve done.” I snapped, turning and walking away in long strides. I ordered the guards, “Lock her up!”
“Yes Alpha!”
I left the cell with chaos in my wake; Demi’s screams echoed all around as she struggled against the guards.
Eventually that was gone; all that was left became the sounds of chains rattling and a few, sparsely scattered muffled groans.
It didn’t matter to me if she decided to help; although having her spill the information about the last rogue leader in their group would be a boost, she was going to die either way.
I met up with the warriors at the foyer of the mansion, ready for battle.
As soon as I stepped before them they bowed, their bodies tense and alert.
“Let’s go,” I ordered them all.
Without flinching they all rose, and I led the way.
The pack was quiet this time of the afternoon; Jacob had already installed several guards within the perimeter of the compound. The air was choked with a sense of forced calm, as if nature itself knew there was something important at stake. The sky was grey, seeded with multiple dark clouds that covered the normally bright blue hues of the summer afternoon.
‘Daria,’ I thought, not sure if she could hear me but hoping she would. ‘Im coming for you.’
A moment passed and she replied, soft and unwavering.

Deep in the forest we began our search. The warriors I commanded split into four groups to check each corner of the forest for the caves. I led one of the groups myself, tracing the path that we had found the dead warrior the previous day and moving past it.
The sound of thunder rolled over our heads and I ignored it.
No sooner had we gotten halfway tk the first cave than we heard a growl in the distance.
My hackles raised and I immediately gestured for everyone to still. Silence followed, then a moment later, another growl.
My instincts didn’t lie; someone was here.
Instantly I pushed forward, my urge to shift taking a toll on my control. I lingered on the very edge, pouncing on the rogue standing at the edge of the small cave before me.
The rogue cried out as I threw him against the tree trunk with force, before being silenced. several of his people rushed out, and without warning they shifted into their wolf forms, charging at me.
I dodged nimbly, none of them getting a chance.
The warriors behind me took action and shifted as well, taking on the rogues in battle. I remained fixed on the cave, and rushed through the scene to it, my nostrils flaring. No scent of Daria. No sign of her.
I let out a loud snarl, suddenly sensing a presence behind me.
“Die!” The rogue charged, and I turned around and gripped his neck, tossing him to the ground and forcing a harsh, choked breath out of him.
The rest of the rogues were dead, their forms strewn across the small clearing. They were only about ten in number, no match for even a handful of my warriors.
I looked down at the only rogue alive with a sneer.
“Where’s Eres?” My tone was calm, but my anger roiled beneath the surface of my words, giving it a dangerous edge.
The rogue, bloodied, still struggled underneath my firm grip. I growled loudly, tightening my chokehold over
his throat,
A loud broken grunt left his lips and he gritted out, “Not. Here.”
It was a simple answer. Defiant. Foolish.
My eyes narrowed down at him.
Was it that Eres already knew we were on his tail?
“Alpha!” One of the warriors called out. “There’s no trace of anyone else!”
