Chapter 108
Daria’s POV
Thirty Minutes Ago:
:
The noise that startled me to attention later that afternoon got my heart beating faster.
“Sloan!” Eres shouted for someone, and I heard howls in the distance.
I knew it in my heart; Caleb was here. They had found me.

It took everything in me to not scream and yell for the warriors to see me from afar – now wasn’t the right time.
“Eres, there’s a party to the east. They’re closing in on us.” The man named Sloan reported to the furious rogue leader.
Eres’ face contorted, his eyes blazing with heat.
“How did they find us?!” he demanded, and several rogues shrank back, intimidated by his aura.
“He must have gotten information from Demi, Eres,” One of the other muscular, scar-faced rogues replied. “She must have spilled to save her skin.”
“Impossible,” Eres snarled, pacing back and forth. This wasn’t in the plan. I could see it clearly on his face. A sense of satisfaction stirred within me.
He was cornered, and this was only the beginning.
But that small triumph didn’t mean much. I longed for his defeat, the destruction of the entire rogues.
“Eres, what do we do?” Someone asked, the chaotic atmosphere brimming with tension that stretched everyone’s nerves.
I swallowed, as his eyes flickered towards me, and I looked away, feigning innocence. Whatever, I thought. He wouldn’t win this time.
His voice boomed around the cave and the surrounding area.
“Kill them all!”
Right as he said that, wolves jumped into the clearing, wolves are recognized as warriors of the Wisteria Pack. The fight began with waves of howling and growls filling the air.
The other rogues fought with fervour, but I watched Eres, my eyes fixed on his figure as he tore his shirt and took off his cargo pants, before shifting into the darkest furred wolf I had seen in a long time. As if he knew I was watching, he turned his head and i caught sight of his gleaming eyes, glowing with an unholy, dangerous light.

‘Watch me kill your kin, he seemed to be saying to me.

Then he entered the fray, taking each warrior down, killing anyone he came across. He barely broke a sweat, even as three wolves surrounded him and attacked him simultaneously. It was useless.
“Please Goddess,” I whispered into the air. I jerked against my cuffs, the aconitum alloy cuffs that denied me access to shift, and yet the urge to do so itched beneath my skin. I wasn’t willing to wait and watch everyone be slaughtered. An ache spread from my chest and down to my limbs, fueling anxiousness that coursed through my body.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” the roughened voice of a female rogue caught my attention. She charged at me and I ducked to dodge her blow. Her eyes narrowed on me, sneering. “Don’t even think about escaping, scum!”
I shoved hard against her, wrapping my chains around her throat. She had been getting on my nerves for the past 24 hours. Remembering the way she had sneered superiorly at me that morning, I knocked her down.
She struggled, trying to twist around to grab my throat. I could sense her muscles shifting, trying to turn into her wolf form. But with Aconitum chains touching her skin she wouldn’t be able to.
“Who’s the scum now?” I growled.
She rolled over, pinning me to the cave floor. But within a split second I kicked her abdomen, knocking the breath out of her. Her sharp scream was cut off immediately as i tightened the grip of the chain over her throat once more.
This time she wasn’t so lucky to get up, gasping for breath and cursing as she scrambled towards the entrance of the cave.
“Not so fast,” I grunted, and I squeezed, like my life depended on it – because it DID. Her entire face was reddened, her hair disheveled, and her limbs flailed about.
If anyone spotted us, I was sure I would be done for. But with the battle going on, no one would turn this way.
I used it to my advantage well.
Within minutes, I twisted the chain, hearing a sharp crack that followed with the woman’s body going limp.
I gasped, releasing her body to fall to the floor. Then I began to search her, frantically looking for anything that could help to unlock these chains from me.
At first, I found nothing. My heart pounded as I tore her jacket open, frantic. I had to get out of these chains. Feeling their effects, being so powerless, was unbearable.
Then something clattered to the floor with a soft clink. I glanced at the small shiny object that had just slipped out of her jacket’s hidden pocket, and I sighed.
“Finally,” I picked it up and struggled to unlock the chains. My hands shook, but I managed it.
However as soon as I had finally freed myself, I looked out and saw the bloodied landscape. Many of the warriors were dead, and more were injured.
