Chapter 111
Caleb’s POV:
This was the first ever meeting of such a momentous scale in the history of this region.

Ten packs, each of varying strengths and sizes, had attended. I myself had to rush there after inspecting the Eastern Border. Now secure and tightly watched day and night, no rogue remained in our guard ranks. The Wisteria Pack was guaranteed victory, a step in the right direction.
By the time I reached the entrance of the meeting hall, Daria and the others were also there.
Despite having seen my mate two hours ago that morning, it didn’t reduce the surge of positive energy that flowed into me upon meeting her eyes.
‘Caleb,’ She sounded amused in our mind-link as I took her hand, greeting Master Killian and the rest with nods. You didn’t tell me you had arranged a meeting today.
“Ah… Well, the thought had slipped my mind. I apologize,’ I sheepishly replied to her, giving no outward trace of the telepathic conversation Daria and I were having.
“Ready?” I asked Jacob who sighed and nodded, muttering ‘As I ever be’ under his breath.
The meeting hall was large, with guards of varying packs stationed at every entrance, corner and behind each seat. I spotted a few of our close allies, like Alpha Townsend.
All eyes turned to us as we made our entry into the hushed hall. Taking the lead, I sat at the head of the round table, pulling my mate to sit by my side. Master Killian and Eric sat to our right, while Jacob and Sabrina were to our left.
“Greetings everyone,” As I began to speak, everyone fell silent. “First, I thank you all for your prompt response in attending this meeting. For too long we have had enemies in our midst that threaten the safety of our Packs and this region.”
“You mean the rogues,” One of the Alphas in the meeting spoke and I affirmed it with a nod. “While my pack hasn’t been too affected, we have had some run-ins with several small groups of rogues in such a short time. Too much to be considered a coincidence.”
“That’s because it is not,” Alpha Townsend. “They are all part of a larger group. And the Red Vale Pack, too, is involved. Altogether they form a deadly threat for all of us.”
Murmurs began, and several of them looved at each other, their eyes full of disbelief.
“You’re certain this is such a serious matter, Alpha Townsend?” Someone asked.
“If I weren’t, I wouldn’t be here, nor would I have lent my aid to the Alpha Caleb all this time. The evidence speaks for itself. And I have plenty.”
Then he plunged into giving a brief description of the results of his investigation, the encounters with the rogues in question.
The meeting proceeded in earnest. All of the delegates and Alphas of the packs in the region were willing to lend their assistance to defeat the rogues at first glance. But I knew that there was more to getting an agreement than simply stating so. It came with actions, and with testing their alliances.
Within an hour, the consensus was reached – a treaty would be signed to the effect of binding all parties to uphold the agreement to defeat the rogues and lend their help to defend other packs from them if need be. In terms of resources, every pack would benefit from the treaty, as it guaranteed they wouldn’t be alone in this crisis.
“Alpha Caleb, there remains but one question,” It was the delegate of the Green pack speaking. “And that is, what do we do about the Red Vale Pack? Alpha Kingston has written to our Alpha seeking an alliance.”

Beside me I felt Daria shift. Her thoughts were a mess, wavering and out of my head in a flurry,
How could he say that? He’s trying to sow discord,’ My mate clenched her hands tightly into fists underneath the table. ‘Does he think my father is that simple?’
I reached my hand out to her and placed it atop her tightly balled hand.
‘Relax, love. Let me handle this, I soothed.
I spoke in response not a second later, letting my words carry across the entire room.
“He would have you believe that,” I agreed. “Alpha Kingston would have everyone believe that his only strife is with me, when his intentions have been clear all along. It has been clear from the moment he sought to infiltrate many of your packs with rogue spies without anyone’s knowledge, and seek to destroy those packs without a shred of mercy.”
The Alpha who had raised that question just now blinked, looking away from my gaze. I caught the flicker of shame in his features – I didn’t care to point out his cowardice.
“The Red Vale Pack isn’t after my pack alone,” I continued. “I’m just the one that’s standing in the way. They’re after all of us. From the Wisteria pack and beyond. And who do you think could take them on, should they defeat us? Can any of your packs stand to fight the Red Vale pack and the rogues alone?”-
That question made the entire meeting hall fall silent, so profoundly so that even the sounds of the outside seemed too loud. for my ears.
Then, as though planned, Master Killian spoke calmly, his voice as cool as a running stream.
