Chase Me Alpha (Daria and Caleb) novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114

Daria’s POV

This was a perfect day.

I had organized everything beforehand, and my heart bubbled with excitement that couldn’t be contained.

“Come on,” I tugged on Caleb’s arm impatiently. Hearing him chuckle beside me made me scoff.

“Of course, love.”

Waiting for us at the meeting hall were most of the pack members, save for a few that handled essential services within and outside the pack. Eric too, had declined the invitation to participate and I understood why. After all, he and Caleb were often at odds except when they were forced to work together.

Regardless, I had made sure everyone not attending would still receive a pleasant package. It was the Alpha’s birthday, and it was well-deserved.

By now, Caleb already knew that we had organized a birthday party, but he had no idea how large-scale it was.

As soon as he stepped into the hall, he fell silent, coming to a full stop at the entrance.

“Happy birthday, Alpha Caleb!” Everyone bowed, their faces beaming. The decorations were tastefully done, from the floral arrangements to the table setting.

The dance floor was lit up by the warm glow of lights.

A feast lay on every table, from the smallest to the least. The chef and several others had worked hard within the past day and a half to prepare everything. Even Jacob had lent me the use of their home chefs and servants to bring it all together.

Caleb was silent, and I knew he was shocked, because even in the mind-link, he was extra silent.

“Caleb?” i squeezed his hand. “Say something.

Worry myst have shown in my thoughts becsuse he turned to me. his eyes full of warmth. He pulled me ito a hug, and suddenly, i felt the oress of his lips agiaisnt mine. Here, in front of practically most of the pack, he kissed me.

‘I love you. I heard echoed in my head.

“Thank you.” He said out loud, his smile beaming like a thousand suns.

I laughed, heady with joy.

“Happy birthday, ma,” Jacob came over with Sabrina and clapped his best friend on the shoulder. “The celebration’s just

started.”

Caleb plucked two glasses filled with punch and handed one to me with twinkling eyes. His grey eyes held an intensity as he leaned in and whispered so low that only two of us could hear, Tonight, you’ll get a great reward for this.”

I shivered, unable to help the images that swirled in my head. I had been too busy with planning everything that I had avoided him for the past two days. It hadn’t been easy. I was only just a woman.

Covering my flush with a large gulping down of the punch, I led Caleb to the high table with a smile. I couldn’t wait for what the day would bring.

The party began in earnest, and it was clear how much the pack had needed this. The wine flowed with ease, and the dance floor was constantly filled with couples and family celebrating. Caleb and I had reveled in it, and I had stuck closely to his

Halfway through the day, I wasn’t expecting to hear a commotion at the front. My ears pricked and I turned, watching as an Elder strode forward towards us. Caleb paused as well, and appeared mildly confused by the serious look on his eyes.

“What is it?” Caleb asked, as soon as the Elder reached us.

Then i heard a distinct shout that pierced the air, and this time everyone was on high alert.

My heart skipped; that couldn’t be her, could it?

It WAS. Everyone’s eyes became fixed on Felicia as she made her entrance, and suddenly gasps erupted from the crowd. The music ground to a halt.

Felicia was really there. But there was something distinctly different from her normal looks.

“What the hell?” Sabrina gasped as well. She could see it too. My hands twitched. I wasn’t hallucinating the large baby bump on her stomach, was I? Something dropped in the pit of my stomach.

“What are you doing here?” Caleb regained his senses before I did and stormed over to block Felicia from moving further.

“Alpha Caleb,” The Elder spoke up. “I was on my way here when saw her. And I couldn’t believe it either. But to find out that she is pregnant, and you have hidden it from us-”

“As it should have been,” Caleb growled.

My breath caught. This couldn’t be real…

“P-Pregnant?” The words left my lips, but I was barely unaware that I had spoken them.

Caleb’s eyes turned to me and he looked away, glaring right at Felicia who sneered openly at everyone.

“Enough,” Caleb’s voice was low, dangerous. I had rarely seen him this furious.

The disbelief in my mind still warred with what I was seeing.

“Alpha Caleb, wait,” One of the Elders stepped forward and patted Felicia’s shoulder. “If she is pregnant with your child, this changes a lot of things.”

What?

With HIS child?

Then Felicia smirked, glancing at me.

“I am five months pregnant, Elder. And yes. I am the only one capable of giving Alpha Caleb what he wants, and what this pack needs,” She said in that syrupy sweet voice that made me want to gag. “Goddess knows you weren’t.”

My knees were weak, and those words- I couldn’t help it, I flinched. They were sharp, aimed to cut right to the bone. And I was the target. I took a step back, swallowing heavily. Everywhere was too open, my wounds that had closed after so long suddenly were being torn open again, and she, as always, rubbed metaphorical salt on it with a smile on her face, because she was ENJOYING this.

“You have no right!” Sabrina stepped forward, seething. I swore, her very eyes could kill Felicia, burn her to a crisp.

“I have every right,” Felicia shot back, this time with ease, stroking her bump with a smirk. “I am the mother of Alpha Caleb’s child and that makes me the Luna of the pack.”

“That’s not true,” Sabrina shook her head emphatically. I was unable tot speak, even just a bit. “This is a ruse. A lie. You’re

trying to trick us.”

“This.. this is no trick,” A familiar voice made my heart thump loudly beneath my ribcage.

It was..

“Jake?” Sabrina breathed in disbelief, turning to her mate. “You can’t be saying that…”

“It’s… It’s true… She’s pregnant.”

That Caleb’s best friend and Beta would confirm this before us all was not lost on me. And it wasn’t lost on Sabrina too, her face contorted into an aghast expression.
