Chase Me Alpha (Daria and Caleb) novel Chapter 128

Chapter 128

Caleb’s POV

They were ready for us.

The afternoon sun was blinding, shining down without mercy, illuminating the border gates of the Red Vale pack. At the gates, I spotted them three guards atop the fence, and five more below.

“Seems they were expecting us,” Killian murmured, standing a step behind me. I growled in response; whether they were expecting us or not, it didn’t matter. We could take the war to them.

“Spread out!” I ordered. As we approached I could see one of the guards on the fence suddenly disappear, likely to call for more aid. But could Jamal ever hope to handle an army of our numbers?

The gates were forced open, and the guards instantly scattered. The alarm rang, and screams echoed in the distance. Suddenly more warriors of the Red Vale rushed at us. With one swing I felled the one in front, tossing him bodily against a tree. The rest of my people followed, charging at the enemy.

Killian and Eric flanked me, their actions swift and unrelenting. With each foe they dealt with, two more would appear in their place.

The battle had begun.

Our people scattered through the pack compound. I moved swiftly, with my gaze locked on the top of the Alpha’s mansion. in the distance. Jamal had indeed taken control of the entire Red Vale Pack, so he would be hiding there.

My destination set, I didn’t care, shifting into my wolf form and dashing towards the mansion. Several wolves surrounded me, biting and growling menacingly, their jaws snapping. Over seven of the warriors were against me, preventing me from moving further. One of them charged, its claws outstretched to deliver what would be a defeating blow, had it reached me. I was quicker. I leapt, jumping over the wolf with agile numbness and pounced upon another. The wolf struggled, but in one more second it gargled in pained whines as it bled out. My jaw was bloodied, as I raised my head to regard the rest. Then they all came at me, as if that would change a thing on the outcome.

I dodged each blow, every slash of my claws designed to kill, not to leave any one of them alive. They were all enemies to me, to my pack.

The ground around me was stained with blood, corpses began to litter the streets. The battle was raging hard and long.

Then I heard a distinct dark chuckle that made me turn, to see a dark wolf staring at me with gleaming amber eyes. It wasn’t anyone I had seen before, yet I knew that gaze – one full of malice, a desire to kill.

“Alpha Caleb,” The wolf sneered, barely caring about the corpses of his men as he kicked them away. “It is an honor to meet you officially.”

There was no doubt in my mind who this was. His very aura, his presence spoke not just of ruthlessness, but utter power.

Jamal.

Anger rose again inside me, an unquenchable inferno.

“I don’t have time for you,” I stated. “Tell me, where is Daria? Perhaps I’ll see fit to spare your life.”

Jamal let out a low rumbling gowl at my words, baring his teeth with fury.

I knew why; for someone as egotistic as this bastard leader of the rogues, he was certainly not going to like being dismissed so abruptly.

“You will face me whether you like it or not, Alpha Caleb,” He spat at me, taking a step closer. “How else would you get to see sweet Daria again?”

At his words I snapped, and charged at him. He barely managed to dodge, but I wasn’t done, twisting in midair and swiping at his flank. My claws left a mark, and he hissed, reacting instantly. As he aimed to hit me, I parried his blow and rolled over, shifting mid-air- the only way I could safely dodge his hits. When I stood, I let my wolf take over again, a move that made his eyes widen in disbelief. Most wolves barely knew how to shift that instantaneously, much less take the pain and discomfort that came with it.

“If it’s a battle you want, Jamal,” I intoned. “It’s a battle you’ll get. hope you’ve made your peace with the Goddess.”

“How fuckign laughable,” He snorted, although I could detect a flash of pain in his eyes. I had spilled first blood between the two of us, and he was definitely shaken by that. “But you will not leave here alive, Alpha Caleb. I will be the winner here.”

“You sound fucking confident,” I tilted my head. Then as if from nowhere, a group of Jamal’s men spawned, all flanking him. Meanwhile I was alone, facing the ten of them.
