The preparation for the blue moon party was in full swing by the time that the sun began to set. Even Sabrina was brimming with excitement and rambling as she hugged me.

“Did you see the banners out there Daria? Oh this is great,” She grinned from ear to ear. She wore a blue dress whose colours matched her eyes perfectly. Her hair was bound in a simple dark ibbon ried in a bow

“You’ve never attended such a festival before have you?” I could help but ask. I just returned from checking on Elder Gerome one more time before retiring to my bedroom.

The ribbon bounced as she shook her head.

“Before I became your personal maid back then, I had a lot of chores to do. It took a lot out of me. And after you left-she cut herself off as if she was about to say something terrible.

My brows rose and my curiosity was piqued enough for me to ask, “After I left? What are you trying to say?”

“Nothing. It’s just… Alpha Caleb held a lot of festivals but he never really attends them you know? But this time the words out that he will be attending.”

I shouldn’t have asked. Hearing Caleb’s name made my smile tu into a scowl and I looked away. I wondered exactly how that had to do with me. I wasn’t an integral part of his life and didn’t care what the hell he had to do tonight.

But then Sabrina asked, while tugging at the sleeve of my peasan blouse.”What do you plan on wearing tonight? You didn’t come to the pack with much clothes but we can find something and-”

“I’m not going to the celebration,” I said before she could finisher statement.

She peered at me with wide eyes and her checks flushed with ank shade.

“What do you mean? Daria please,” she whined like a child. It was too adorable to not smile. “You have to come.”

“I’m not going, I’m not a member of this pack nor was I invited Sabrina. Please don’t make me go.” I replied softly She didn’t look happy though. I could practically see the pain and concern aimed at me in her eyes, and it hurt to see

Looking away I tried to busy myself with organizing my emptyrs. I already had finished a few of my well unlized herbal medicines to treat Elder Gerome.

I grabbed a pen and began jotting a list of what I’d need to procure or process.

I almost missed the sky look on Sabrina’s face.

Almost.

By the time I turned around she was already rifling through the loset The wardrobe was full of clothes. Some were a reminder of my last life and the rest had been provided by Cale when Larrived at his behest. But I had never worn any of them. Each dress that Sabrina tugged out was expensive looking and glamorous

Something like that wasn’t suited to me anymore.

“Try this one. It would suit you so well.” I heard Sabrina say

Startled, looked up at her again to find her holding a sapphire que dress The fabric was a chiffon that looked soft no the touch I nearly scolled at the thought but her gaze turned serious with a hint of pleading

“Daria, I know you. I served you when you first came to the Wisteria Pack. And I know for sure that you’ve never attended any festival in this pack. I don’t want to spend tonight by myself just please she clutched the dress gazing at me earnestly

My resolve broke.

“By the goddess, fine. I’ll do it, only for you.” I sighed loudly and crumbled as I stood from the edge of the bed where I’d been sitting. She squealed in delight, tossing the dress to me.

“Try this one on. If it doesn’t fit, we’ve got more.

And so I began my preparation for the festival.

I tried to not let my awkwardness show as I left the bathroom less than thirty minutes later, refreshed and just showered. wearing a bathrobe. Soon I was stripped down to my underwear and the blue dress slid onto my body.

As soon as the zipped was fastened I couldn’t help but let out a gasp.

It fit like a damn glove on me.

“This is it. This is the dress.” Sabrina was exceedingly happy and too held a surprise as I turned to glance at my reflection.

The dress was adorned with bedding at the bodice which flowed like iridescent stars. The skirt flowed out from my waist and down to my hips. My figure really looked good on it. And I couldn’t help but admit in my mind that Sabrina as always was right.

It was perfect.

Soon after, my hair was styled with help from Sabrina into a half up half down style and I put on my simple jewelry which were the only ones I had. The lifestyle of a healer wasn’t as glamorous as that of a Luna.

After some finishing touches, especially from my dear friend, we finally left my room. She was still excitedly babbling while we walked down the hall.

The music could be heard from inside the mansion and while we made our way to the clearing I glanced up at the dark sky

The moon shone with an intense golden glow around it, I couldn’t help but feel my wolf settle with content.

Many around us moved about with their partners and families. The area flowed with lights that gave off an ethereal and romantic atmosphere. The dance floor was inviting to everyone who wished to join in.

“Where’s Alpha Caleb?” I heard one pack member whisper closely. I stiffened upon hearing his name again.

The knee jerk reaction to turn around and leave made me almost stay rooted to the spot. But then Sabrina tugged me away from the crowd. We reached a small hill where many sat and sipped on drinks, eating delicious finger foods while chatting

Just as I was about to settle in and actually have fun, something happened.

“There he is!” Someone yelled and all eyes turned to the dance for

There he was

My breath caught as I saw Caleb, dressed elegantly and looking in my chest and I pressed my palm to it. My heartbeat echoed members who stood by him

shing Somehow there was a feeling of warmth welling up my cars and I watched as he smiled and greeted a few pack

But then suddenly music swelled up higher than before and I washed someone else step out mio the clearing

“Of course,” Sabrina muttered annoyedly. “What a joke.”

I knew exactly what she was commenting about. Because none her than Felicia had stepped out. Her hair was adorned with glimmering hairpins and her red dress stood out like a fier dramatic depiction of a Phoenix Every part of her appearance spoke of nobility and a sense of being at the top.

“Is that not the Alpha’s chosen lover? She’s from an important family. When are they going to marry again?” I heard someone ask among the crowd before getting shushed by anoth

Felicia walked up to Caleb. They began to dance among the others, standing out like stars among mere mortals.

Suddenly a sharp pain jolted me and I stood.

“Daria?”

I ignored Sabrina’s words. Not out of anger but out of a desire to leave. My chest burned at the sight of them.
