Silence stretched on in the room for further than necessary. I held the glass of water in my hand and Mira looked preoccupied with still organizing my clothes.

But I knew better, with the way she glanced at me briefly from time to time it was clear that she was only waiting for me to drink the ‘water’ before she could leave.

My wolf longed for release so I could tear her apart, she had no idea who she was dealing with then. I had been beaten down and bruised and traumatized beyond recognition so many times in the past.

The Daria of now would never let herself get pushed into a corner without fighting back.

With gritted teeth I exhaled slowly and began to think clearly for the first time that day, headache aside, I wasn’t about to let this slide. Not one damn bit.

“Mira,” my voice was calm as I stood and walked over to her. The glass was still in my hand and I tried to not exert too much force on my grip lest it break.

She watched me with wary eyes and her cheeks flushed.

“Yes Miss?”

“Are you trying to bite the hand that feeds you now?” I asked openly. No delusions or illusions would be necessary with her from now on, my plan had to be discarded.

Her eyes goggled at me as though she didn’t expect such a question from me. Then she took a step back but I was faster, I grabbed her arm and tugged her closer. The glass was held to he lips now and she tried to push me away while shaking her head repeatedly.

“I didn’t do anything.” Mira insisted in a pleading tone, tears filled her eyes and began to flow freely. If I didn’t know she was a spy I would have believed her act instantly. “Please believe me don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, Mira, you’re so smart and yet so dumb.” I smirked at her darkly and her face grew pale with cach word. “I am a healer, not just any but the best in the region for a reason. All the plants and poisons, the training, the methods to dull the senses. I know them all and you just tried to poison me.”

“No!” Her insistence would have been funny were it not for howuilty she looked.

“And with an aphrodisiac no less,” I added. Suddenly all her crying stopped, she fell silent and I raised a brow at her in mocking.

“Didn’t think I could tell? It’s not very rare to get this drug. But its a remarkable skill and to use it is pretty easy. Just water. The taste of the water would remain the same. But the scent… al that scent is unmistakable. I know this poison, very effective. In less than minutes whoever took it would be a writhing mess. They’d do anything to be touched and I know you’ve just tried to drug me with it.”

“What are you going to do about it?”

Her defiant tone all of a sudden broke through. Her eyes narrow, her mask had fallen and she knew it.

I watched as Míra tried to pull her hand away from mine but I wouldn’t let her. My grip tightened and I smiled at her.

This time it wasn’t a kind smile. It was menacing, threatening and I knew she was scared despite the brave front she put on.

“I am going to show you exactly why you don’t mess with me.”

My words didn’t betray my actions at all, within seconds I had her pinned to the edge of the bed. She screamed an ear piercing yell and I immediately forced the drugged water into her mouth and down her throat.

At first she tried to cough it out but the longer I held her down and pinned her nose to cut off her airflow, the more she swallowed, soon the entire glass was empty.

The bits that hadn’t gone into her mouth had splashed all over her face and collarbone. Meanwhile I made sure to keep my mouth far away from the water. Even one drop could make any werewolf worth their salt lose so much control in an instant.

She was screwed and she knew it. From the way she coughed and tried to throw up.

I released her and watched as she scrambled to her feet. I blocked her path when she tried to run and asked lightly. “Who sent you!”

Because this was a targeted attack on me. No one else, it had to be someone who held a deep hatred for me.

But I had no idea who, despite the fact that the Wisteria Pack was a place I hated returning to even though it was temporary, no one hated me enough to try and drug me.

Except maybe Felicia,

My suspicions rose as Mira tried to deny knowing anything. Her yes darted about trying to look for an escape route, but this time her eyes were becoming cloudy and her cheeks incredibly flushed.

The drug was taking effect quickly. How high a dose was the water laced with?

She stumbled and nearly fell against me. Thinking quickly I pulled her into the bed, she moaned softly and closed her eyes. half conscious. Her limbs went limp and she was unable to move exactly how they had wanted me.

I got to work pretty fast, whoever was coming for me would be on their way now. Laying her on my bed I pulled the covers up after removing her shoes, then I switched off the lamp and any lights.

The moonlight shone through the curtains and I held my breath as I tiptoed around to the bathroom door.

Just as soon as I was in hiding the bedroom door opened.

The sounds of Mira’s moans filled the air, she was feeling the effects of the water now in full.

Meanwhile a shadowed figure entered the bedroom and without hesitation made his way to my bed.

My heart pounded loudly.

So it was true. There was someone who was there to assault me, someone who held deep hatred for me. But who?

The figure stopped by my bed and then lifted a hand to caress the head of the maid. I could feel harsh panting coming from

the man.

A stench of alcohol also filled the air.

I swallowed, I knew I had to be quiet while waiting for my chance to escape.

I couldn’t help but pity Mira and murmur a prayer for mercy as he man suddenly ripped apart the dress she wore and bore down on her.

Then whispers came.

And my blood ran cold.

“You’re mine”
