Caleb’s POV

That same night:

“There was no word from him yet Alpha.” the guard informed as soon as I arrived.

The excuse given for my absence at the mansion was that I was checking the situation at the border. That was mostly untrue. While I had made a brief detour to meet with the chief of the patrol team, it had barely taken an hour. The night was chilly for summertime but I shook it off.

My focus was on the man in front of me, tied up and gagged, the rogue I had captured was hidden well. Not even Beta Draco knew that the rogue was still alive, only my trusted guards were set to watch over him to prevent any leaks.

“Leave us,” I ordered the guards. They immediately bowed and made their exit while I kept my gaze on the man.

His eyes were wide with terror and his muscles twitched, sweat beads had formed on his forehead and his Adam’s apple bobbed as the sound of the gate shutting echoed.

“Are you ready to talk?” I asked mockingly with a smirk. “Or are you prepared for me to make you talk? The hard way or the easy way? Choose.”

He swallowed again and I then heard his voice muffled by the gag. I reached to pull out the gag and he coughed hoarsely.

“P-please Alpha,” his voice was rough. “Show mercy, I beg of you

I chuckled mirthlessly, cruelty wasn’t my forte but I wasn’t a fool to let the rogue’s words twist my mind.

“You must think I’m a fool,” I grinned widely. “The moment I release you, you will run off to your damn group and tell them what you know. So I’m going to make you a deal, your head or information.”

The man’s eyes flashed with fear. I sensed the rage underneath as his nostrils flared with every breath of his.

“You will not win Alpha Caleb,” he hissed out. “Even if I die I will never betray my people. Not my leader or anyone else. You think you’re so fucking powerful?”

He spat at my feet and I gritted my teeth in displeasure.

“Then you will die a miserable death. You should have given me the information I needed without resistance. Now you’ll pay the price.”

“Fuck you,” the rogue growled at me. The chains restricted him and I felt no fear, or guilt for what I was about to do.

“Eric,” I called one of my trusted guards, he entered immediatel “Make sure he bleeds but keep him alive. He must spill everything he knows from his damn origins to his group and his leader, I want a report on everything in the next 24 fucking hours.”

“Yes Alpha,” Eric bowed to me.

The rogue let out a loud yell cursing me but I didn’t bother glaning at him. His life would be forfeit once I got all I wanted from him

As I walked out of the underground cells the sounds of the rogus screams began to echo around. A loud whipping sound hitting skin filled the air and another guttural scream ensued.

The night was so silent I could hear the forest trees rustling, several noises in the mansion also reached my cars but I tuned them out.

Thinking of the duties I still had to handle the next day I drifted off to a dreamless sleep.

It was chaos that woke me up.

The sounds of screams and yells that got me rising from my slumber so early in the morning. A glance at the window showed me it wasn’t even light out yet. My expression and mood grim, I grabbed a shirt and tugged it on with lightning speed.

The moment I left my bedroom I could hear the voices with more clarity,

“I cannot believe it, it was an unknown female voice. But the tone of it showed disbelief and anger. “How could this happen!”

My guess is as good as yours. I have no idea-“I recognized Daria’s soft voice instantly. This time there was an edge to it like never before.

“Don’t fucking play with me,” Raul’s voice came out in a growl, he sounded furious. “I would never do that to anyone!” “The proof is right here in front of us, Beta Raul!” Daria shot back with barely concealed disgust.

What could be going on?

I had never heard Daria that angry in my life.

Without hesitation I crossed the threshold and entered the hall.

A small crowd had gathered, some were my maids and guards, the others were members of the delegates. Many still rubbed their eyes looking exhausted from lack of sleep.

And in the middle?

Daria looking stone faced and facing Raul and a maid, upon closer look I noticed the maid’s disheveled state, her noise was torn revealing her collarbone which was littered with red marks.

Her skirt was practically torn to shreds, only a small blanket protected her modesty. She shrank back as soon as she noticed me and silence enveloped the air as everyone noticed my arrival

“What is going on here?” I turned to address the head maid who stood beside Daria looking grim.

“Alpha,” she bowed deeply. “We found Beta Raul in bed with none other than this maid in Healer Daria’s bedroom.”

I was briefly shocked.

I turned to see Raul seething, he was held back by three guards and even then he strained against them as if to reach for the head maid.

“Lies,” Raul roared. “Why the fuck would I be with a damn maid”

“In another’s bed no less,” the head maid shot back at him. His es gleamed with hatred and disdain.

“As it stands the evidence is before us, Beta Raul,” I stated while ldly gesturing to the whimpering spy of a maid. She

Of all the depravities I didn’t expect you would try to act against servant of mine in this way, I thought to myself. Raul wasn’t a fool, he knew exactly that this was a crime against the Wisteria Pack.

Whether the maid was a spy wasn’t my busines. In this case she was a maid of my pack and was under my protection.

“So unless you have a way to defend yourself, you will have to face the consequences.”
