The last thing that I expected to hear in my home the moment I stepped inside was the sound of my mate yelling at the top of her lungs.

I rushed upstairs, alarmed and tense only to find Daria holding onto Demi with her furious gaze turned on

her.

“Daria, STOP!” I stepped through the two women, and pulled Daria back. She struggled but I held onto her firmly with one hand.

Demi burst into loud uncontrollable sobs right in front of me, her lips trembling and tears flowing down her cheeks.

“Go on,”Daria raised her voice at Demi again. “Cry. You think everyone will pity you if you just cry!”

“Daria, I said, enough!” I didn’t mean to raise my voice at her but after all the news and actions i’ve had to take today, it was not a good time for me to deal with this.

“You hurt me!” Demi’s voice shook, her face flushed and hair disheveled. She looked utterly pitiful.

Daria growled, her eyes glowing a dark shade of blue. “Remind me who’s the one in my bedroom right now? What were you doing in here? What did you think would happen when you trespassed?”

Demi, however, shook her head repeatedly, “You’re mad. I didn’t do anything wrong, Caleb. I swear it. I only came here because I was searching for my necklace and I thought she had taken it. It was my mother’s, the last remaining thing I have of her. It’s not my fault.”

“Alright,” I snapped, my voice firm. I saw how Daria eyed Demi; If I wasn’t between the two women, physically blocking her right now I had no doubt that Daria would have lunged at her. “Now isn’t the time for this. Demi, leave at once. I’ll have your necklace found. But you should never set foot inside here again.”

Her lips quivered as if she wanted to say something, but she only bowed her head and nodded, tears still streaming down her cheeks.

As she left, I grabbed Daria by the arm and tugged her out of the room as well. I pulled her to my study, one of the only places I trusted to be secure and safe from prying eyes and ears. Immediately I shut the door behind us, Daria turned on me with fury in her eyes.

“Why the hell did you stop me?” She demanded, her voice low and hoarse.

“Because you were going to cause more trouble for yourself,” I replied without any hint of remorse,

She scoffed, flipping her hair and muttering curses under her breath. I watched as she paced from left to right, restless.

“I can’t believe that you would do that, Caleb! She’s the one in the wrong here, not me! You should have been

on MY side!

“I am on your side, love,” I grabbed her arm again, this time stopping her in her tracks and forcing her to look up at me. “Do you really think concerning yourself with whatever she does is important?” I asked. “Even when we have a lot more to deal with? She’s not important.”

“She’s provoking me,” she shot back, albeit a little petulantly. I caressed her cheek, unable to stop myself from chuckling. Predictably, her eyes narrowed at my action and she scoffed openly.

“Of course, you don’t care. You see her as so damn innocent. You’d probably go for her if it weren’t for me, right?”

Hearing her say that was like shooting an arrow to my heart. I immediately stopped laughing and pressed my lips against hers, shutting her up effectively.

Our lips melded together perfectly and we moved in synchrony. By the time we parted, I was already half- hard, teeming with lust in my veins.

“You’re the only one for me, Daria,” I said with promise, with intention. She gazed up at me, her blue eyes locked onto mine in rapt attention. “And whatever Demi is playing at doesn’t concern me at all. She’s just a stranger I used to know when we were children.”

“She said you and Jacob were her playmates. You must have been incredibly close,” She mumbled, and it was obvious what she meant by that.

“Actually,” I said while hiding a smirk. “The only reason we played together as children is because she never got along with most of the others. From what I hear she had quite a personality. Her parents had prominent roles in the council so they managed to call a favour. That’s the only reason we became playmates, love.”

Daria perked up, “Really?”

“Really. Even when Jacob and I were forced to play with her, it always had to be something she wanted. It was terrible. But we tried to be polite,” I coughed as I saw Daria mutter ‘Insufferable bitch, under her breath. I pretended not to hear it and finished, “So you might as well stop being so jealous, love. Demi’s not even close to what you are to me.”

My remarks made her flush and she scoffed, rolling her eyes, “I wasn’t jealous. What reason do I have to be jealous in the first place?”

“Exactly,” I leaned in and gave her a quick peck on her lips. Her scent reminded me of walking through a flowery meadow at sunset, a dream I never wanted to wake up from. “You’re the only one for me. I will say it until i’m out of fucking breath. You’re mine.”
