Chapter 21 Double the Good News

Charlotte’s dark eyes flickered. “I’ve heard of him.’

Matthew instantly lit up. “Can you find him?”

Charlotte: “Why are you looking for him?”

Matthew: “They say he’s a computer genius and a top-tier hacker. If he joins my

company, it’ll be like putting a rocket on a race car. In the future Al market, my company

would definitely become one of the best.”

Charlotte smiled faintly. “That’s true. He should have that ability.”

Matthew completely forgot he was still angry. “From what you’re saying, it sounds like

you know him. Can you help me find him?”

“No.”

Matthew’s face darkened. “You’re my wife. Do you not care at all about the company’s

future?”

“I mean I only heard it secondhand. I don’t know her.”

The tiny spark in Matthew’s eyes went out in an instant.

“After all that, it was just a bunch of nonsense.”

Charlotte let out a cold laugh silently.

So he could smile when he needed something, and turn his back the second he didn’t.

Wasn’t that a little ugly?

Matthew’s voice turned icy. “Did you think I wouldn’t come, so you had no scruples about

flirting with some guy? No wonder you dressed up so pretty today.”

Charlotte froze.

She never would’ve imagined she’d hear something that disgusting come out of

Matthew’s mouth.

Charlotte took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

“How did I flirt?”

Matthew’s gaze pressed down on her, heavy and dark. “How else did you want to flirt? If

I hadn’t shown up, were you going to make up an excuse and not come home tonight?”

“Matthew.” Charlotte couldn’t take it anymore. “Watch your mouth.”

“Charlotte!” Matthew roared back, refusing to lose. “Don’t forget who you are!”

“What I am?” Charlotte let out a cold laugh. “The kind of ‘who I am’ where my husband

never takes me seriously? Or the kind of ‘who I am’ where my in-laws pick on me at

every turn? Or the kind of ‘who I am’ where my husband has a kid with his brother’s wife,

lives like the three of them are a family every day, and I’m the one who has to swallow it

all?”

Matthew sneered. “So? You’re planning to find your next man?”

Charlotte was so furious she didn’t even want to talk.

They glared at each other for a few seconds.

Matthew added, “Because I didn’t lend your Smith family that money, you want to get

back at me by cheating? And at the same time latch onto some rich guy so you can

squeeze money out of him? Charlotte, do you even know what shame is ”

Slap!

A sharp, ringing slap landed across Matthew’s face.

In his whole life, Matthew had never been humiliated like this. He raised his hand and

swung toward Charlotte’s cheek.

Charlotte didn’t have time to dodge. The slap hit.

Her cheek burned.

But her love for him was already dead. It didn’t matter.

Still, she wasn’t swallowing this.

So Charlotte slapped him right back.

This time, Matthew was caught completely off guard.

He glared at her, furious.

“Do you have a death wish?”

Charlotte glared back, just as fierce. “Matthew, listen to me. This was the first time you hit me–but it’ll also be the last. From today on, if you dare lay a finger on me, Charlotte, I’ll make you pay a price you can’t even imagine!”

Matthew stared at those eyes-like she was looking at an enemy-and slowly lowered his hand.

Those eyes were beautiful.

But right now, they were terrifying.

“Get out! Don’t let me see you again!”

Charlotte swept her hair back, opened the car door, and stepped out.

With a turn of her body, she disappeared into the night.

Matthew watched her walk away without looking back, then slammed his fist into the

steering wheel.

Originally, something had come up last-minute. He didn’t even have time to pick this

woman up.

But thinking about how he hadn’t agreed to lend the money today, and how Nat had

also made her feel wronged, he decided to go get her to give her a surprise.

He never expected to see this woman hugging and holding another man.

The moment he saw Charlotte in another man’s arms, that nameless rage inside him

shot straight up.

“Matt.”

After Matthew parked and walked to the entrance, he saw Isabella coming toward him.

Matthew had fire in his chest, so his tone was naturally harsh.

“Do you not know you’re still recovering after childbirth? What are you doing coming out

here?”

Isabella looked wronged. “I saw your car parked outside for a long time. I thought

something might be wrong, so I came out to check.”

Matthew was too irritated to talk.

“Just now I think I saw Charlie. Why didn’t she come in? It’s so late-where did she go?”

Matthew was still in the middle of his anger, speaking without thinking.

“Where else? To meet her lover.”

Isabella blanked for a second. “You mean she…”

Matthew reacted. “I was joking. Something happened at her family’s place. She went back.”

Isabella’s hand suddenly touched Matthew’s cheek. “Matt, what happened to your face? It looks like someone hit you. Don’t tell me she hit you?”

Matthew pulled her hand down, impatient. “How would she hit me? You’re overthinking

it.”

Then, as if remembering something, he added, “Don’t let your mind run wild. If Grandma

and Mom misunderstand your sister-in-law again, she will just be wronged all over

again.”

At those words, a shadow flashed through Isabella’s eyes.

Actually, she’d seen what happened in the car.

If Lillian and Everly found out that woman had slapped Matthew, then Charlotte’s days

in the Russell family would get even worse.

But what Isabella didn’t expect was that Matthew would cover for Charlotte.

Could it be…

Isabella nodded. “Matt, don’t worry. I won’t overthink it. I know you care a lot about her.”

Matthew paused for a few seconds. “I care about her?”

Isabella studied his expression carefully. “Don’t you?”
