Quinn sent a message, “Mr. Sterling, Lucy and I were hoping to visit the jewelry collection tomorrow night around eight. Would that be convenient for you? If another time works better, you can decide. I’m flexible.
Julian’s gaze stopped on one word,
The meeting continued, but Julian raised his hand. “Ten minute break.”
He stood up and walked out of the conference room, heading straight to his office.
Not long after. Quinn received a reply.
Julian sent a message, “Huh?”
Quirin stared at the screen for a moment.
Then she suddenly remembered what he had told her before. He had said not to address him so formally. It made him sound old.
She quickly typed a reply.
Quinn sent a message, “Sorry, that was my
mistake.”
Then she added another message, “You can decide the time tomorrow night. Lucy and I will adjust.”
Julian replied, “You’ll remember next time?”
Quinn replied, “I will. I won’t forget.”
A moment later another message appeared.
Julian sent a message, “Tomorrow at eight works. I’ll send a car to pick you up.”
Quinn typed quickly, “We can get there ourselves.”
Julian replied, “That location isn’t on GPS. You won’t find it.”
Quinn paused before typing again, “Alright then. Thank you.”
Right before sending it she suddenly noticed something.
She had almost used the formal wording again. She quickly corrected it before pressing send.
Afterward she let out a quiet breath.
Why does texting him make me nervous?
At least over messages it was manageable. Not using formal language wasn’t as hard as she thought,
But if they were face to face, she worried the habit might come back.

Julian naturally carried an air of authority that made people instinctively respectful. It wasn’t just his tailored suits or the expensive watch on his wrist,
It was the calm confidence that seemed to follow him everywhere. He had the kind of advantages most people could only dream about.
A powerful family, extraordinary ability, and a face that looked almost unreal.
It felt like life had handed him every possible advantage.
Standing in front of someone like that. Quinn couldn’t help feeling a little pressure. After thanking him. she assumed the conversation was over and set her phone aside,
But a moment later it buzzed again.
Another message from Julian.
Julian sent a message. “How are you thanking me?”
Quinn blinked.

The last time she had thanked him, after the yacht incident, he had asked the exact same question.
Before she could figure out what to say, another message appeared.
Julian sent a message, “You and Lucy can take me to dinner sometime. That’s fair, right?”
Quinn instantly relaxed.
If Lucy was there too, then it didn’t feel awkward.
Quinn sent a message, “Of course. Whenever you’re free, Lucy and I will take you to dinner.”
She had almost typed the formal wording again.
Julian replied, “Good. See you tomorrow night. We’ll talk about dinner then.”
When Julian returned to the conference room, everyone immediately noticed the change.
The tense atmosphere around him had eased noticeably. Even the managers presenting their project proposals felt secretly relieved.
Maybe today their budgets would be approved a little more easily.
Quinn had no idea that sending a few simple messages could influence the mood of an entire boardroom.
After confirming the time with Julian, she texted Lucy. Lucy had been busy with job interviews these past few days.
The Blake family owned a large business, and Lucy had grown up living comfortably like a princess.
But after graduation she didn’t want to rely on her parents. She also didn’t want to step directly into the

family company.
So she decided to try different jobs simply because she was curious.
Quinn had once asked her why.

Lucy had said, “Because I know eventually I’ll probably marry someone my family chooses. Once that happens, there’s a good chance I’ll end up being a full time wife. So while I’m still young, I want to try everything!
Quinn couldn’t help thinking about that.
If Lucy would eventually marry someone chosen by her family, Julian probably would too.
For families like theirs, marrying someone of equal background was simply understood.
That night Lucy wanted something warm and comforting for dinner.
Quinn stopped by a grocery store and picked up ingredients for a big seafood chowder and a few easy side dishes.
She wasn’t much of a cook, but meals like that were simple.
Just simmer everything together and add whatever ingredients you liked. On a cold winter evening, staying home and sharing a hot meal felt relaxing.
Lucy hadn’t had much luck with interviews recently.

But she wasn’t worried about money anyway. In fact, she seemed cheerful.
She lifted her glass toward Quinn.
“Alright, Quinn. Three wishes for you tonight. First, your divorce gets finalized soon. Second, you win that design competition. Third, you find an amazing boyfriend. Cheers.”
Quinn laughed and clinked her glass gently with Lucy’s.
“You’re greedy,” she said. “When I blow out birthday candles I only dare make one wish, and you just made three.”
Lucy grinned. “You never know unless you aim big. Come on, you’ve got this.”
They were still laughing when Quinn’s phone rang. She quickly picked it up.
“Harold.”
Lucy mouthed silently from across the table.
Him again?
Harold said, “Is this a bad time? Could you come by for a bit?”
“Yes,” Quinn said, raising a hand to reassure Lucy. “Just send me the address.”

After she hung up. Lucy rolled her eyes.
“I’m starting to find him annoying. Why does he always call people during their evenings?”
Quinn began clearing the table.
“For designers, there’s really no such thing as off hours,” she said. “And he pays well. When a client calls, I show up.”
