Ditched the Cheater, Pregnant by Mr. Righ novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101 The Wrong Call

Lucy stood up. “I’ll go with you.”

Quinn shook her head. “Why? It’s cold outside. Just stay home and wait for me.”

“I ate way too much.” Lucy laughed. “A short drive will help.”

Years later, Quinn would feel incredibly grateful that Lucy left the house with her that night.

Lucy drove.

She never liked showing off her wealthy background in public. For everyday driving, she used a sedan worth around sixty or seventy thousand dollars. Nice, but nothing flashy.

“Another hotel,” Lucy said while steering onto the road. “Why does this guy always meet you at hotels?”

Quinn explained, “Business dinners, meetings, sometimes just resting between appointments. Hotels are convenient.”

Lucy snorted. “He pays well, but wow, he’s high maintenance.”

Quinn smiled faintly. “Honestly, I think he really loves his wife. He double checks every tiny detail for her.”

“Well,” Lucy said, “that’s probably his only redeeming quality.”

Right then, Quinn’s phone rang.

She glanced at the screen. It was an unfamiliar number, but the last four digits formed a clean pattern, the kind businesses liked to use, so it probably wasn’t a spam call.

She answered. “Hello?”

A man’s angry voice exploded through the speaker.

“So young and already wrecking someone else’s marriage. Don’t you have any shame? What’s it like chasing a guy old enough to be your dad? Does he satisfy you? With how desperate you sound, maybe I should send a few guys over to keep you company tonight.”

The filthy insults poured straight into Quinn’s ear.

Before she could even process what was happening, the man hung up.

Quinn sat there, stunned, then anger and humiliation rushed in at once.

“Who are you?” she snapped at the silent phone. “Are you crazy?”

Lucy couldn’t hear the caller, but she saw Quinn’s expression. “What happened?”

Quinn ended the call. Her chest felt tight. She exhaled slowly before speaking. “Probably a wrong number.

That was weird.”

Lucy frowned. “Did they say something nasty? Ignore it. There are all kinds of people out there. Plenty of lunatics too.”

“Yeah.” Quinn nodded. “I’m not wasting energy on it.”

The moment she finished speaking, the phone rang again.

The same number. Quinn rejected the call and blocked it immediately.

Lucy scoffed. “If he keeps calling, report him. Don’t tolerate that kind of crap.”

“I blocked him.” Quinn shrugged. “Problem solved.”

“Exactly. Don’t let idiots ruin your mood.” Lucy grinned. “Instead, think about what you’re buying once you get Harold’s payment.”

Quinn laughed. “I was actually planning to buy gifts for you and Veronica. Lucy, what do you want? Do you know what Veronica likes?”

“You don’t need to buy me anything.” Lucy said.

“Not happening.”

Lucy chuckled. “Fine. Veronica loves plush toys. Surprising, right? She looks like this hardcore career woman, but deep down she’s basically a little kid.”

Quinn blinked. “I never would’ve guessed that.”

“Well, now you know.”

“Alright.” Quinn said. “Plush toys it is. And you’re getting something too. I already know what you like.”

They kept chatting as Lucy drove.

Soon they arrived at the hotel.

They had eaten dinner earlier that evening, starting just before five. It was only a little past six now.

The upper floors of the hotel were guest rooms, while the first three floors were restaurants.

This was peak dinner hour.

“Come inside and wait in the lobby,” Quinn said. “It’s cold in the car. I’ll be quick.”

“No rush.” Lucy parked the car. “I’d just be scrolling my phone at home anyway.”

They entered the hotel lobby together.

Quinn helped Lucy find a seat first, giving her a few quick instructions before turning toward the elevators.

The hotel was huge. The lobby had towering ceilings and warm golden lighting, giving the whole space an elegant, luxurious atmosphere.

From Lucy’s seat to the elevators was quite a distance.

Lucy watched Quinn walk away, then looked down at her phone.

She opened her chat with Julian and started typing, telling him she had come out with Quinn to meet

someone.

She was halfway through the message when a burst of noise erupted across the lobby.

Lucy looked up.

A man had stepped in front of Quinn, blocking her path. They appeared to be arguing.

Lucy immediately stood up and started walking over. At the same time she sent a voice message.

“Julian! Where are you? Quinn’s being harassed. Get here now!”

The distance was far, so while walking she quickly sent him the location.

Then she broke into a jog. By the time she reached the area, a small crowd had already gathered.

Lucy squeezed through the people. When she finally got close, she realized something.

It wasn’t just one man confronting Quinn. There were several.

Quinn had been stopped just a few steps away from the elevator.

A young man had suddenly stepped out and blocked her.

He looked to be in his mid twenties, dressed casually, with the fresh appearance of a college graduate. But his face was full of anger.

He raised his arm and stopped Quinn.

“You’re Quinn?”

Quinn halted.

Her first thought was that the man’s voice sounded oddly familiar.

“Yes, I’m Quinn.” She studied him, certain she had never met him before. “Who are you?”
