Chapter 109 A Dangerous Look
Finished
Being in a long-distance relationship meant Rosalie was not always there. Life was full of distractions, and sometimes it was easy for people to get dazzled by things that were not real.
That was why she had decided to return to Lakeshore City. She wanted to make things between her and Julian official.
What she did not realize was that someone else had already started thinking about him.
At that moment, Julian had no idea anyone was setting their sights on him. He pulled up in front of the apartment building and stopped the car.
Then he said to Lucy, “Go on upstairs first. I want to talk to Quinn for a minute.”
Quinn had already reached for the door handle. When she heard that, she paused.
Lucy looked surprised. She turned and glanced at Quinn before looking back at Julian.
“Wait… what do you need to say?” she asked nervously. “Can’t I hear it too?”
Julian only gave her a cold look. Lucy immediately shrank back.
“Alright, alright, I’m going! You two talk!”
She jumped out of the car in a hurry. Before leaving, she leaned down by the rear window.
Quinn quickly lowered the window.
Lucy whispered, “Quinn, I’ll be in the lobby waiting for you, okay? Don’t worry.”
Then she hurried toward the entrance.
Julian rubbed his temple, looking slightly speechless.
Don’t worry? Why would she be worried? Does Lucy seriously think she’s scared of me?
When Quinn noticed he had not spoken, she said gently, “Mr. Sterling, did you need something?”
Julian looked at her through the rearview mirror.
Their eyes met.
Almost immediately, Quinn lowered her gaze.
Julian shifted slightly in his seat and turned around so he could face her.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
For some reason, the moment he asked that question, the calm Quinn had barely managed to hold onto began slipping away again.

Now all she felt was the sting of humiliation.
Her eyes turned red, and her nose suddenly burned.
“I’m fine.”
But the moment she spoke, she realized her voice sounded different.
There was a soft nasal edge to it, the kind that made it obvious someone was about to cry.
She sniffed quickly, trying to steady herself. But she failed.
A tear slipped down and fell onto the back of her hand.
“Hey. Don’t cry. Here.”

A handkerchief appeared in front of her. Julian’s voice sounded lower than usual, and much gentler.
A strange warmth spread through Quinn’s chest, catching her off guard and making her oddly uneasy.

“No, it’s okay,” she said quickly. “I’ll just get it dirty.”
She wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand.
“Take it,” Julian said.
His tone made it clear he was not giving her the option to refuse.
Without thinking, Quinn accepted it.
“Anyone would feel upset after going through something like that tonight,” Julian said calmly. “Let yourself cry it out. After today, nothing like that will happen again.”
“Thank you. I really mean it,” Quinn said sincerely. “If you hadn’t been there tonight, I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done.”
Julian looked at her quietly.
“Well then,” he said after a moment, “do you really think treating me to dinner with Lucy once is enough to thank me?”
Quinn lifted her tear-filled eyes and looked at him. She clearly had not expected that.
Julian’s heart suddenly skipped. He could not handle the way Quinn looked at him.
All those restless nights came flooding back to his mind.
He had always lived a disciplined life. He worked out regularly, kept his routines strict, and had never let
desire run his decisions.
Except when it came to Quinn.
Sometimes he would see her during the day.

That night, he would end up dreaming about her. Dreams that were far from innocent.
In those dreams, Quinn clung to him with those long legs wrapped around his waist, urging him to hurry.
Her eyes were shy and glistening.
Almost exactly like the way she looked right now. Julian muttered a curse under his breath. He turned away and tugged at his tie.
What the hell is wrong with me?
How could he be thinking about things like that at a time like this?
Quinn had no idea what was going on.
All she noticed was that his expression changed suddenly. He turned back toward the front, sitting straight in the driver’s seat again.
His posture became rigid, distant. That familiar air of cold restraint surrounded him again, making him seem almost unreachable.
Quinn held the handkerchief in her palm.
She felt uneasy, and a little helpless.
Several seconds passed. Julian still said nothing.
Thinking about what he had asked earlier, Quinn spoke again.
“How would you like me to thank you? I still haven’t finished the suit I promised to make for you last time…”
Julian was doing everything he could to control the desire rising in his body. He was not normally a reckless man.
Only Quinn could make him lose control like this.
Inside the quiet car, it was just the two of them.
Her wide, watery eyes, the faint scent of her perfume drifting through the air. Everything about her stirred something deeply instinctive inside him.
Julian could not help thinking how ridiculous this was.
She did not even have to try. And he was already surrendering without a fight.
“You don’t need to do anything,” he said.
His voice had grown deeper, with a faint roughness to it, as if he were forcing himself to stay calm.
Quinn tilted her head slightly, curiosity making her glance at him.

Their eyes met again. He was in the front seat. She was in the back. There was still distance between them.
Yet Quinn suddenly felt as though the air between them had turned scorching hot.
