Chapter 160 Crossing Lines
Quinn sent a simple text with the time and location.
Julian replied almost immediately, “Got it. See you tomorrow.”
Quinn stared at the screen for a moment, her eyes lingering on his profile picture.
Then suddenly, her phone rang, making her flinch.
She glanced down.
Rosalie.
For a second, she considered ignoring it. But she already knew how that would play out.

Rosalie would go straight to Elaine, twist the story, and she’d end up getting blamed without explanation.
So she answered.
Rosalie didn’t hold back. “Did you tell Chase I have a boyfriend?“.
Her tone was sharp, clearly still angry.
Even though she had smoothed things over with Chase, she wasn’t about to let Quinn off the hook.
She had just been too busy to deal with it until now.
Quinn kept her voice calm. “Don’t you? Did I say something wrong?”
She knew exactly what this was about.
Rosalie didn’t want Chase to know, so she could keep him hanging.
“What I do is none of your business,” Rosalie snapped. “Who gave you the right to tell him anything?”
Quinn let out a small, incredulous laugh. “Why, is it something you’re hiding? If you actually saw me as your sister, then Chase would be your brother–in–law. Are we really not even allowed to know you’re seeing someone?”
“That’s my private life. You don’t get to comment on it.”
Quinn’s expression cooled. “Funny. Do you remember high school? When you went around telling people I was dating some sketchy guy? What gave you the right to comment on my life back then?”
“That was different. You were underage. I was looking out for you.”
“No,” Quinn said evenly. “You made it up. Completely. There was nothing there, and you turned it into a rumor anyway. But now that you actually have a boyfriend, me stating a fact is somehow crossing a line?”
Rosalie scoffed. “You’re still hung up on that? I apologized.

“Yes.” Quinn said quietly. “After everyone already believed it. You apologized at home, but it didn’t change anything. No one ever cleared my name.”
Rosalie had always operated like that.
She never did anything directly. She nudged situations, let other people spread things for her.
Back then, Quinn hadn’t even realized where it all started. Now she did.
And she had stopped expecting anything from them a long time ago. So there was nothing left to hold back
“Believe whatever you want,” Rosalie said dismissively. “My intentions were good.”
Quinn didn’t bother responding to that.
“Just stay out of my business,” Rosalie added.
“I’m divorcing Chase soon,” Quinn said. “Whatever is going on between you two, you should figure it out.”
Rosalie’s voice sharpened instantly. “What is that supposed to mean? There’s nothing going on between me and him. Watch what you’re implying.”
“You know he’s always liked you,” Quinn said. “If you respect that, you should give him a clear answer.”
“Don’t act like you’re being noble,” Rosalie shot back. “I’ve rejected him plenty of times. If he won’t move on, that’s on him. Maybe I’m just that hard to forget.”
Quinn didn’t argue. “Fine. Once the divorce is finalized, I won’t be involved in anything related to him.”
“Quinn, why are you being so rigid?” Rosalie pressed. “Someone like Chase, what’s the problem? So he messed up once, big deal. Men do that. Can’t you just let it go?”
“If that’s all,” Quinn said, “I’m hanging up.”
She ended the call.
A faint, self–aware smile crossed her face.
Good thing I stopped expecting anything from her. Otherwise, this would still hurt.
On the other end, Rosalie stared at her phone, thinking.
Then, slowly, she made up her mind.
She knew that if she didn’t handle Chase properly while seeing someone else, it could come back to bite
her.
After weighing everything, she decided it was safer to cut Chase off completely.
The last thing she wanted was for Julian to misunderstand her.
A man like him wouldn’t tolerate being involved with someone who couldn’t keep her relationships clean.

With his status, he could have anyone.
Rosalie knew she was lucky to have caught his attention. But how long that would last, she had no idea.
Julian wasn’t like the other men she had dealt with.
He wasn’t easy to read, and definitely not easy to control.
Even through simple conversations, it was obvious he was calculated, sharp, always thinking ahead.
And that kind of man….
was exactly the kind that made her both drawn in and uneasy.
