Quinn frowned, clearly frustrated, and looked straight at him. “I was drunk, okay? That doesn’t count. That’s completely different.”
Julian didn’t look convinced, and if anything, her reaction only made him more certain. “People don’t just make things up when they’re drunk,” he said, his voice steady but deliberate, like he was laying out a fact. “If anything, they stop filtering themselves, so what they say and do usually comes from somewhere real. So if that’s true, then everything you did that night… doesn’t it say something about what you actually wanted?”
“That’s not true,” Quinn shot back immediately, almost too fast, like she needed to shut it down before it went any further. “Not even close. I’m not that kind of person.”
The idea alone made her flustered, and she could feel the heat rising in her face.
She wasn’t someone who crossed lines like that, not with anyone, and definitely not on purpose.
Julian let out a quiet breath, not quite a laugh, but close enough to carry a hint of disbelief. “Really?” he said, tilting his head slightly as he studied her. “Because from where I’m standing, what you did didn’t look all that different.”
Quinn’s face burned instantly, the heat spreading all the way to her ears, and this time she couldn’t hold it together.
Her eyes filled, her voice tightening as she looked at him. “What do you want from me?” she asked, almost pleading now. “What do I have to do for you to delete it?”
Just thinking about that video made her stomach twist.
If it still existed somewhere, she knew she wouldn’t even be able to sleep without thinking about it.
Julian watched her quietly for a moment, taking in the way her eyes glistened, the way she tried to hold herself together and failed just a little.
Something in his chest shifted.
His throat tightened before he finally spoke. “It’s simple,” he said.
Quinn looked at him, her eyes wide and clear despite the tears, waiting.
Julian held her gaze and said, “From now on, you don’t lie to me. If I don’t catch it, fine, but if I do, then you agree to whatever I ask. No arguing, no backing out.”
Quinn froze, the weight of that settling in slowly.
Julian watched her reaction and raised a brow slightly. “That’s not exactly a complicated condition,” he added. “So why are you hesitating? Or does that mean you’ve already lied to me?”
She shook her head instinctively, but the moment she did, she realized it wasn’t entirely true, and that realization left her stuck, unable to respond right away.

After a brief pause, she spoke more carefully. “If it’s something I don’t want to answer… can I just not
answer?”
Julian considered it, then nodded. “If it puts you in a difficult position, you can stay quiet.”
That was enough for her.
Quinn took a breath, steadied herself, and said, “Okay. I agree.”
Julian’s expression didn’t soften, but there was a quiet finality in his tone. “Good. And this time, you don’t get to change your mind.”
“I won’t,” she said quickly, urgency creeping back in. “So delete it. Everything. Not just your phone, the one in your car too.”
Julian paused for a second, almost imperceptibly.
He didn’t want to delete it.
But he had already made the deal.
And besides, there would be other chances.
He placed his phone in front of her and deleted the video completely, letting her watch every step.
Quinn leaned forward slightly, making sure it was really gone. “And the one in
your
car?”
“It’s already deleted,” Julian said, his tone even. “I handled it myself. Something like that… I’m not letting anyone else see it.”
Her face flushed again, and she turned away, unable to look at him.
Why does he say things like that so casually…
Julian didn’t step back, and the space between them stayed just a little too close. “Anything else?”
She shook her head.
“Good,” he said. “Then we can talk about the rest.”
Quinn tensed immediately.
Julian’s gaze dropped briefly to her hand before returning to her face. “You still owe me.”
The words alone made her nervous.
Without thinking, she reached up to fix her hair, a small habit that surfaced whenever she didn’t know what to do with herself, but instead of helping, it only made things worse as a few loose strands fell forward again.
Before she could fix it, Julian reached out.
His fingers brushed lightly against her hair as he tucked it behind her ear, the movement slow and

deliberate.
Quinn froze completely.
Her face flushed deeper.
It was such a simple gesture, and somehow it felt more dangerous than anything else.
If I can’t even handle this… what happens if he actually does more…
“Answer me,” Julian said, his voice pulling her back.
“I don’t know,” she admitted quietly.
“Then I’ll decide,” he said.
She hesitated, then looked at him again. “I already agreed to your condition… why do I still have to make it up to you?”
“That was for the video,” Julian replied calmly. “This is separate. This is for what you did.”
Quinn lowered her head, defeated, and didn’t argue.
Julian watched her for a moment, then said, “Since you don’t have a plan, I’ll make one. Any objections?”
She instinctively reached out to push him away, but halfway through, she hesitated and only pressed lightly against his shirt with one finger. “Can you just… stand a little farther away first?”
Julian glanced down at her hand, then simply wrapped his fingers around hers.
Quinn tried to pull back, but he didn’t let go.
She looked up at him, annoyed. “Let go.”
Instead of releasing her, Julian’s thumb brushed lightly over her finger, slow and absent–minded, like he had already decided this wasn’t up for discussion. “We’ll start simple,” he said. “Holding hands. From now on, when I do this, you don’t pull away.”
“No.”
Her answer came immediately.
Julian frowned slightly. “No? I asked you how you wanted to handle this, you had nothing, and now I come up with something and you’re rejecting it?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Quinn said quickly, trying to explain. “I just… I’ve never even held your hand before.”
Julian’s expression shifted, a faint smile appearing. “Interesting.”
He looked at her more closely now. “So you’d rather skip straight to everything else? Because I’ve seen that video more than once, and I remember exactly what you did.”

That made everything worse.
Quinn felt like she might actually disappear from embarrassment.
“Stop talking,” she said, her voice dropping as she looked away. “I said I agree, okay? I agree.”
At least it was just holding hands.
Even if it still felt… strange.
