Chapter 214 Stuck Together

They weren’t a couple, and that was exactly why this felt so strange, because holding hands was supposed to mean something, and whatever this was between them didn’t have a clear name.
Quinn looked at him, trying to sound rational despite how flustered she felt. “We’re not actually going to do this all the time, right? Like… how long does this even last?”
Julian didn’t hesitate. “Whenever I feel like it, you don’t pull away.”
She blinked. “For how long?”
Julian thought for a moment, then answered in a way that sounded far too reasonable for what he was proposing. “You touched my throat, my abs, and you kissed me. If we’re counting hand–holding as repayment for all of that, then about a month seems fair.”
“A month?” Quinn stared at him in disbelief. “You can’t be serious.”
Julian didn’t react. “Or,” he added calmly, “I can return everything. Same level, same places, same way, and we call it even.”
“Holding hands.” Quinn said immediately, not even letting him finish. “We’re sticking with that. A month is fine.”
There was a trace of amusement in his voice now. “No backing out.”
“I won’t,” she said, though her tone had already lost some confidence. “So can you let go now?”
Julian looked at their hands, then adjusted his grip instead of releasing it, his fingers sliding into hers until their hands were fully intertwined.
“Starting now,” he said.
From that moment on, wherever Quinn went, Julian followed, their hands still linked as if separating simply wasn’t an option.
After a while, Quinn couldn’t help but think of an old comedy skit she had once seen, where two people accidentally got their hands glued together and had to go through their entire day like that, awkwardly coordinating every movement.
That was exactly what this felt like.
Except this wasn’t an accident.
Quinn’s emotions tangled together in a way she couldn’t sort out, part embarrassment, part nervous. energy, and something softer underneath that she didn’t want to examine too closely.
Julian, on the other hand, adjusted quickly, completely at ease as if this had always been normal, sometimes holding her hand loosely, sometimes tightening his grip, sometimes lacing their fingers together without even thinking about it.
After a while, Quinn said she wanted to lie down, thinking that once she was in bed, he would finally let go.

He didn’t.
Julian simply sat at the edge of the bed, still holding her hand like it was the most natural thing in the
world.
Which left her with a problem she didn’t know how to solve.
If Lucy asked what happened last night… what was she supposed to say?
There was no version of this she could explain out loud.
So no matter how Lucy asked, Quinn gave the same answer every time.
Nothing happened.
Lucy didn’t quite buy it, but she didn’t push too hard either.
She loved celebrity gossip and romance novels, and she had read enough stories to recognize this kind of tension when she saw it, except this time it wasn’t fiction, it was happening right in front of her.
And honestly, compared to the over–the–top male leads she had read about, the controlling ones, the manipulative ones, the ones who created endless misunderstandings, Julian seemed a hundred times better.
At least he wasn’t hurting Quinn.
At least he wasn’t playing games.
If anything, he was… steady.
And if Quinn really ended up with him, then maybe this would be the kind of relationship she actually believed in, something real instead of dramatic for the sake of drama.
Still, she kept those thoughts to herself.
If Quinn liked him, she would support it.
If she didn’t, she wouldn’t push.
She had already decided that much.
Lucy stayed with Quinn the whole day since Julian didn’t show up, and it wasn’t until late afternoon, a little past five, that she finally got ready to leave.
The moment Quinn realized she would be alone with Julian again, still tied to that ridiculous hand- holding rule, her chest tightened.
“Lucy, can’t you just stay tonight?” she asked, unable to hide the hesitation in her voice.
Lucy shook her head immediately, then made a face. “No way. Quinn, Julian literally called me this morning and told me to come keep you company, and I would’ve come anyway, but if I’m still here when he shows up later, I’m not dealing with that.”

Quinn sighed. “Then come early tomorrow.”
Lucy squeezed her hand reassuringly. “I will. As soon as he leaves, I’ll be here.”
Quinn gave her a look. “So… basically whenever that is.”
Lucy laughed softly, trying to lighten the mood. “Just hang in there a little longer. Didn’t the doctor say you might be discharged in a couple of days?”
Quinn nodded.
Her recovery had been going well, and if the bloodwork came back normal, she would be cleared to leave
soon
That thought alone made everything feel more manageable.
“When that happens,” Lucy added, “Julian’s definitely going to pick you up. I’ll be waiting at home.”
Quinn didn’t know what else to say.
She just nodded. “Thanks, Lucy.”
On the day she was
sed, Julian handled everything personally and drove her back.
They hadn’t gone far when his
phone rang.
Lucy was calling.
